At the gala 43rd Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, November 7, 'The Madness of George III,' from Chicago Shakespeare Theater, took top honors for a play in the Large Theatre tier with a total of 5 awards, including Production - Play, Director Penny Metropulos and Principal Actor Harry Groener. In musical categories for large theatres, the Goodman Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company production of 'Candide' won top awards for a musical with 5 statues, including Production - Musical, New Adaptation for Mary Zimmerman, Principal Actor Geoff Packard and Supporting Actress and Actor, Hollis Resnik and Larry Yando. The revisionist team of Director Charles Newell and Music Director Doug Peck of Court Theatre claimed directing honors for large musicals with their new look at 'The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess.'
Jesse Eisenberg's ASUNCION Extends at Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre Through December 18

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announced today that its world premiere of Asuncion, the new comedy written by and starring Academy Award-nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), will extend its run at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street). Originally scheduled to close on November 27, Asuncion will now play an additional three weeks and conclude following the Sunday, December 18th performance.

Jane Alexander to Lead Signature Theatre's LADY FROM DUBUQUE

Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin), announced a change to the theatre's Legacy Program for the inaugural season at the Company's new home, Signature Center: the theatre will produce Albee's 1977 play, The Lady from Dubuque, in a new production featuring Tony Award winner Jane Alexander and directed by David Esbjornson. The world premiere of Edward Albee's Laying an Egg will be produced in a future season.

Deadline.com ha confirmado que el último actor que se unirá en la película de Les Miserables no será otro que Eddie Redmayne en el papel de 'Marius'. Junto a él, los otros protagonistas serán Hugh Jackman como 'Jean Valjean', Russell Crowe como 'Javert' y Anne Hathaway en el papel de 'Fantine'. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of HORSEDREAMS, a new play written by and featuring award-winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist, Dael Orlandersmith. The third production of the company's 17th season, performances of HORSEDREAMS will begin Wednesday, November 9th at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets). The official opening night is set for Thursday, November 17th. The production is scheduled to run through December 11th. Gordon Edelstein directs.
