Before Prop 8, 'Will & Grace', Ellen, AIDS, Gay Pride Events or The Stonewall Uprising, Mart Crowley's stage play 'The Boys in the Band' changed everything as the first ever gay play to successfully reach a mainstream audience.

FREUD'S LAST SESSION, the runaway hit play by Mark St. Germain, will celebrate its 500th New York performance this Saturday, November 26th at the 2pm matinee at New World Stages (240 West 50th Street).

At a press conference Florida Studio Theatre announced a multi-year capital improvement campaign to renovate the 6,000 sq. foot Gompertz Theatre and construct an 18,000 sq. foot addition with two new theatre spaces. The $5.6 million dollar campaign is the largest capital program in the 37-year old theatre's history and will double the number of renovated stages on the theatre's campus located in Sarasota's historic downtown.

Beowulf Alley Theatre will present a contemporary adaptation of King Lear by William Shakespeare at the theatre, 11 South 6th Avenue for a 4-weekend run.

Freud's Last Session, the award-winning, Off-Broadway hit play by Mark St. Germain (suggested by The Question of God by Dr. Armand M. Nicholi, Jr.), will debut at the Century Theatre Wednesday, Sept. 7 - Nov. 20 with 10 weeks of thought-provoking performances.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of HORSEDREAMS, a new play written by and featuring award-winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist, Dael Orlandersmith. The third production of the company's 17th season, performances of HORSEDREAMS will begin Wednesday, November 9th at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets).
