Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Matt Weaver & Scott Prisand, two of ROCK OF AGES' lead producers and co-owners of the LA-based Corner Store Entertainment, have two films in the top dramatic category at Sundance Film Festival. The films, which star a host of stage stars, are SYMPATHY FOR DELICIOUS (Mark Ruffalo, Laura Linney, Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis) and HESHER (Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon Levitt).
The Golden Satellite Nominations were announced today and the film version of Maury Yeston's 'Nine' received 11 nominations, inclduing Best Motion Picture and Best Director for Rob Marshall. In addition, television favorite 'Glee' received 5 nominations including Best Television Series, Best Actor in a Series for Matthew Morrison and Best Actress in a Series Lea Michele.
SHOWTIME has announced the air dates for some its highly-anticipated programming for first and second quarter 2010. Highlighting the new schedule will be a Monday comedy block pairing of the second season of SHOWTIME's acclaimed Nurse Jackie starring Emmy award-winner Edie Falco leading into the second season of United States of Tara showcasing Toni Collette in her Emmy award-winning title role. Nurse Jackie will premiere on Monday, March 22 at 10:00 PM ET/PT followed by United States of Tara at 10:30 PM ET/PT.
Previews began on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 for the first ever Broadway production of OLEANNA, the provocative drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet. Starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt), the play is a gripping account of a power struggle between a male university professor and one of his female students. In this Dallas version of Terrence McNally?s award winning play, both leads are African-American. When the play first opened on Broadway in June 1987 at the Manhattan Theater Club, it starred white actors Kathy Bates and Kenneth Welsh. A revival of the play featured popular actors Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci, both of Italian heritage, with the roles subsequently filled by actors Rosie Perez and Joe Pantoliano, both of Latin ancestry.
