Columbia Stages presents Black Snow by Mikhail Bulgakov, directed byMikhael Tara Garver and produced in association with The New Ensemble. On astormy night, Sergei sits alone with his first great novel in a small room inMoscow. A knock at the door propels him down the rabbit hole into an adventureof ridiculous proportions. This world premiere event melds together thehilarious and stunning adaptation by Keith Reddin with an epic original scoreby Andrew Gerle and Royce Vavrek. From the thunderous sound of the keys, thetrue music of a man's voice battles with your expectations. Performances for 'Black Snow' will be held February 3-6.
Signature Theatre Announces 3 New Musical Commissions & 2 Awards; Recipients Include Guettel, Foley, Michelson, Miller & Richards

Eric Schaeffer, Artistic Director of the Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, today announced that Signature Theatre is expanding its American Musical Voices Project (AMVP) for a fourth year with the commission and production of a new musical by Adam Guettel for its 2011-2012 season. Also announced as part of The Next Generation segment of the AMVP were two additional musical commissions awarded to Peter Foley and Marisa Michelson as well as honoree grants given to Chris Miller and Scott Davenport Richards for the development of future musical ideas. Signature, with the support of The Shen Family Foundation, has awarded $595,000 to artists in honors and commissions in the past three years. The American Musical Voices Project is the largest single musical theater commissioning and producing initiative at any non-profit theater in America.
NAMT Announces Seven New Musicals Grant Recipients

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) is proud to announce seven grant recipients of the National Fund for New Musicals, a new major granting initiative to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaboration with writers to create, develop, and produce new musicals.

Prospect Theater Company's 10th anniversary concert will be held Sept. 21 at Off-Broadway's 37 Arts. Falsettos' Stephen Bogardus will host the 9 PM concert, which will boast the talents of David Abeles, Jim Bauer, Jennifer Blood, Matt Cavenaugh, Gavin Creel, Jennifer Damiano, Malcolm Gets, Piper Goodeve, Adam Jacobs, Jose Llana, Jeff McCarthy, Meghan McGeary, Mark Mozingo, Brian Munn and Liz Power as well as members of the cast of the upcoming Prospect production of Illyria: Dan Sharkey, Ryan Dietz, Jim Poulos and Tina Stafford. 37 Arts is located in Manhattan at 450 West 37th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. The ASCAP Foundation is pleased to announce that four new musical works have been singled out for presentation at the ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop in New York. The winning proposals were selected from nearly 130 applicants. The workshop will take place at ASCAP's New York offices at One Lincoln Plaza on April 27, 28, May 11, 12, 18 and 19 starting at 7:00pm sharp.
