Donna Lynne Champlin, James Moye, Patrick Ryan Sullivan, Melanie Vaughan and more have been cast in Goodspeed Musicals' upcoming production of the new musical Meet John Doe, based on the classic 1941 Frank Capra film.

The production will run at the Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, CT from November 9th through December 3rd.  In addition to Champlin (Sweeney Todd, Flight of the Lawnchair Man) as Ann Mitchell, Moye (Urinetown, The Full Monty) as John Doe, Sullivan (42nd Street, Titanic) as DB Norton and Vaughan (Ring of Fire, Sunday in the Park with George) as Mother, the show will star Joel Blum (The Music Man, Steel Pier) as the Colonel, Keegan Michael Brown as Beany, and Guy Paul (Twelve Angry Men, King Lear) as Connell.  David Andrew Anderson, Ronald L. Brown, Rachel Clark, Monique French, Victoria Huston-Elem, Aaron Lambert, Nicole Mangi, Mark Sanders and Jaron Vesely will be featured in the ensemble of the musical, which will be directed by Michael Baron (rather than the previously-announced Eric Schaeffer).

"Extra! Extra! John Doe Threatens to Jump Off Brooklyn Bridge! A Depression-era reporter pumps new life into a dying newspaper with a hoax that ignites a national frenzy to save 'John Doe.' Scrambling to keep the stunt going, she recruits a washed up ballplayer to play the part. How far will she go to keep up the scam of the century?," state Goodspeed notes.

Meet John Doe features music by Andrew Gerle, lyrics by Eddie Sugarman, and a book by Gerle and Sugarman, with additional story by Matt August.  The classic film upon which the musical is based starred Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck.

The musical will feature sets by Court Watson and costumes by Alejo Vietti.
