Set in 1880's fog-bound London, Gaslight is an edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller that tells the story of the Manninghams of Angel Street. Under the guise of kindliness, the handsome Mr. Manningham is torturing his wife into insanity in hopes of ultimately disposing of her and getting away with murder. It is the quintessential Victorian thriller is filled with intrigue, treachery and good, old-fashioned melodramatic fun.

Now playing in Chicago is a revised production of the show, directed by its original director, the very capable Richard Maltby, Jr. The original authors, Neil Bartram and Brian Hill have written some new material.... Eagle-eyed readers of BroadwayWorld.com know that what is believed to be the very first non-Equity production of this show anywhere (still in its original version, of course) played in Chicago's far northwest suburbs in September of 2009. One of those two actors....

BWW Reviews: SEUSSICAL at Nashville Children's Theatre
by Jeffrey Ellis
- Nov 10, 2010
Directed with his customary flair and oh-so-obvious affection for the material by NCT producing artistic director Scot Copeland, it's one of the sweetest shows you'll ever witness. But Seussical's sweetness isn't of the cloying variety that sets your teeth on edge; rather, NCT's Seussical is slightly satirical and wonderfully warped (just as you would expect from a show based upon the writings of the time-honored Dr. Seuss) and is brought to life by an ensemble of performers at the top of their game.

As summer turns to fall, and we bring out our fleece jackets and scarves, the tourist load begins to filter out of Times Square. Almost over night, it seems there are fewer red-coated men hawking double-decker bus tours; fewer full-sized 'Elmos' looking in need of a wash, taking photos with passersby for tips; and most importantly, significantly shorter lines at the TKTS booth in the square at 47th and Broadway. The line is full of strangers, but I often find that by the time I reach the window, I've gotten to know someone who would never otherwise have crossed by path.

Review - Gatz: Every. Single. Word.
by Ben Peltz

When asked how she kept her voice strong and healthy week after week while starring on Broadway, Ethel Merman famously quipped, 'You have to live like a f***ing nun!' If that's the case then I suppose Scott Shepherd should be up for sainthood any day now. In Gatz, the Elevator Repair Service's cover-to-cover, word-for-word staging of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, Shepherd reads the narrating role of Nick Carraway, which I'm guessing is roughly 75% of the text in this theatre piece which, at the performance I attended, began at 3pm and let out around 11:20, allowing for two fifteen minute intermissions and an hour and fifteen minute dinner break.
