Congressman Grimm, More Join Musical Chairs Chamber Ensemble to Celebrate NEA Challenge America Grant

Musical Chairs Chamber Ensemble, Inc. (MCCE) has been awarded its second prestigious National Endowment for the Arts Challenge America Grant. MCCE will celebrate this good fortune with Congressman Michael Grimm, Council Member Debi Rose and Deputy Borough President Ed Burke on Monday, April 16th at 10am at a formal announcement and press conference at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal (Staten Island side). Live performances will greet morning commuters from 9am to 11am with MCCE members Tamara Keshecki (flute), Clarice Jensen (cello) and Lucille Corwin (viola) performing music by Telemann, Vivaldi, Roussel and Andrew Rosciszewski, MCCE's 2011-12 composer-in-residence.

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT Announces $36.50 Student Rush Tickets

The new musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT announced today that a limited number of $36.50 student rush tickets will be available for purchase in-person at the Imperial Theatre box office (249 West 45th Street) when it opens for that day's performance only. There is a limit of one ticket per person with a valid student ID. Tickets are subject to availability and may not be offered at all performances. Seat locations may be partial view.

Two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick and three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara in NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, will begin performances on Broadway on Thursday, March 29, 2012 and officially open on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). The production is directed & choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall and features a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT is featured in the April 2012 issue of Vanity Fair in a story written by Jim Kelly. Parks Breaks Ground at 2 Sites in Staten Island

Commissioner Adrian Benepe today joined Deputy Borough President Ed Burke, Mark Russo of Friends of Abandoned Ceremonies, and Janice Blanchard of the Travis Fourth of July Parade Committee to break ground on a $1.2-million construction project at Independence Park in the Travis community of Staten Island. Later in the day, Commissioner Benepe broke ground on a $2.5-million project to construct a synthetic turf playing field and tot lot at New Dorp Beach. He was joined by Borough President James Molinaro, Council Member Vincent Ignizio, Assemblywoman Elect Nicole Malliotakis, and Congressman Elect Michael Grimm to celebrate the new field.
