East West Players Host ENCOUNTER, Now thru 10/6

East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, opens its 47th Anniversary season, themed Spirited Away, with the critically-acclaimed dance theatre production ENCOUNTER. Previews run tonight, September 6-9, and the performance run continues through October 6, 2012.

Chance Theater to Premiere Brian Nelson's OVERLOOKED, 9/29

Chance Theater presents the fourth show of its 2012 season with a biting new world premiere play, OVERLOOKED, written by Brian Nelson (the writer of the acclaimed film "Hard Candy") and directed by Marya Mazor.

Original Chicago Cast Set for METAMORPHOSES at Lookingglass Theatre, 9/19-28

Lookingglass Theatre Company will open its 25th Anniversary Season with Metamorphoses, based on the Myths of Ovid, written and directed by Lookingglass Ensemble Member Mary Zimmerman. The show will play September 19 - September 28, 2012. The return of Lookingglass' seminal production, coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of the Broadway run, will open at Lookingglass in the fall of 2012 and will then move to Washington D.C.'s Arena Stage.

Olympic Story THREE YEAR SWIM CLUB Returns By Popular Demand At East West Players, Through 8/19

The popular and critically-acclaimed production THREE YEAR SWIM CLUB has returned to East West Players (EWP) for a second run. This play is inspired by the true life story of legendary swim coach Soichi Sakamoto, who trained Maui youth for the Olympics in the plantation irrigation ditches. Set on the island of Maui in the 1930's, this heartwarming play turns transcendent as the art of hula becomes the metaphor for competitive swimming.

CBS to Sponsor 8th Annual Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase

CBS will sponsor its eighth annual talent showcase for diverse sketch comedians in January 2013 in Los Angeles. Executive producer and writer Rick Najera ('Mad TV,' 'Latinologues,' 'Nothing Like The Holidays,' 'In Living Color') will again direct the showcase for CBS.
