The Acting Company has named two seasoned arts executives to further bolster its commitment to bringing audiences across the country excellent live theatre. Erik Schroeder will serve as Managing Director and Deborah Steinglass will become Director of Advancement. They join the recently appointed, Artistic Director Kent Gash at The Acting Company.

Ian Belknap is leaving The Acting Company, on December 31, 2021, having served as its Artistic Director for the past ten years, to pursue new creative opportunities.  “The Acting Company turns 50 in 2022. It’s a good time for an influx of new energy and to give myself a new challenge,' said Belknap, Artistic Director of TAC.

The Acting Company has announced the full cast list for their one-night-only benefit reading of Crispin Whittell's adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, December 11 at Hunter College's Kaye Playhouse (695 Park Avenue).

The Acting Company honored playwright John Guare and film and theater producer/philanthropist Anne L. Bernstein - two individuals whose exemplary work aligns with the artistic and educational ideals of the widely acclaimed touring repertory company that promotes theater and arts education nationwide - at the Company's 2017 Winter Gala on December 4. The Acting Company celebrated the opening of X: Or, Betty Shabazz v. The Nation in rep with Julius Caesar at The New Victory Theater on Friday night at Red Rooster on Malcolm X Blvd. in Harlem. Scroll down for photos from the festivities!

 Margot Harley, who co-founded The Acting Company with John Houseman in 1972, will step down as its Producer effective the end of this year.  The Acting Company began with the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division, which included Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers.  "They were classically trained, superbly talented and had worked together for four years," stated Ms. Harley.

Jesse L. Martin, Billy Porter, David Rockefeller, Jr., and Stephen DeRosa more honored NYU Tisch School of the Arts' Dean Emerita Mary Schmidt Campbell and Municipal Arts Society's President Vin Cipolla at The Acting Company's Gala on November 17 at 360 Degrees Tribeca. Nathan Lane, Harold Prince, Angela Lansbury, Laura Osnes,Harriet Harris, Kate Burton, Kristine Nielsen, Alfred Uhry saluted actress Dana Ivey and arts patron Barbara Fleischmanat The Acting Company's Gala on last night, October 21 at Capitale. Ms. Ivey received the John Houseman Award recognizing her profound commitment to the development of American actors and a national audience for the theater. Ms. Fleischman was presented the Warburg Humanitarian Award for her outstanding philanthropic endeavor and support of the arts. Earl Weiner, Board Chairman of both The Acting Company and the Theater Development Fund (TDF) will receive the Warburg Humanitarian Award for his outstanding philanthropic endeavor and leadership. According to Barbara Fleischman, Gala Chair, Harriet Harris(Thoroughly Modern Millie, upcoming in Cinderella) and Dr. Kate Levin, Commissioner of New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs, will present the awards; Jim Dale will host, Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow, upcoming in Giant) will perform and tributes will be offered by Angela Lansbury, Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Rainn Wilson, Dana Ivey, Hamish Linklater, Joe Dowling, Director of The Guthrie and Michael Kahn, Artistic Director of Washington's Shakespeare Theater. Four hundred guests complete an industry-filled audience of producers, directors, entertainers and other notables including The Honorable Thomas Kean, record producer Clive Davis,director/choreographer Susan Stroman, TV personality Pia Lindstrom, Juilliard President Joseph Polisi, composerMary Rodgers Guettel and The Broadway League's Charlotte St. Martin. The Board of Trustees of Theatre Development Fund (TDF), the country's largest not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, founded in 1968, has announced the election of Earl D. Weiner to the position of chairman of the Board of Trustees. The announcement was made by TDF's current chairman, David D. Holbrook, who just completed a second tenure as chairman which began in November 2005. Mr. Holbrook's first tenure as chairman was from November 1990 - November 1997.
