Cafe Carlyle Features Woody Allen and the Eddy Davis Band, 10/1-2

Erich Steinbock, Managing Director of The Carlyle Hotel, is pleased to announce that the Café Carlyle's regular Monday night act, Woody Allen & The Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band, is, in a rare move, adding two special performances this week. The celebrated band will play at 8:45 p.m. on both Friday, October 1 and Saturday, October 2. There is a $125 music charge ($85 + $25 drink minimum, bar). Dinner (served from 6:30pm) is required. The Lark Play Development Center is proud to announce the selections for Playwrights' Week 2010. Eight plays were chosen from over 500 submissions. The playwrights will spend a weeklong residency at the Lark developing their work with professional actors, a director, and Lark staff; each will then present that work as a public reading October 18 - 23.

Lead producer Michael Cohl today announced the complete cast for SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, which begins rehearsals this morning. Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring a book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, and new music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark will begin previews at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) on November 14, with opening night set for December 21.

Goodman Theatre proudly concludes its 2008/2009 season with José Rivera's newest play, Boleros for the Disenchanted, 'an epic study of wedded life that is simply?and not so simply?marvelous' (Variety). A true love story inspired by Rivera's parents' courtship and eventual migration from Puerto Rico to Alabama, Boleros for the Disenchanted makes its Chicago premiere directed by Henry Godinez?the Goodman's Resident Artistic Associate who was named 2008 Latino of the Year by the Chicago Latino Network. Chicago actors Elizabeth Ledo and Sandra Marquez command the stage in the role of Flora, based on Rivera's mother, at various points in her life. Godinez's cast also includes Liza Fernandez, Joe Minoso, Rene Rivera and Felix Solis. Boleros for the Disenchanted is performed in English in the Albert Theatre June 20 ? July 26, 2009.
