Cortland Repertory Theatre starts their celebratory 40th Anniversary 'Ruby Jubilee' season at the Little York Pavilion with 'Rumors', a hysterical farce penned by America's Master of Comedy, Neil Simon. Simon is best known for his cannon of wildly successful comedies, and is the only playwright in history to have four shows running on Broadway at the same time: 'The Odd Couple', 'Barefoot in the Park', 'The Star Spangled Girl' and the musical 'Sweet Charity'. He has been nominated 17 times for the Tony Award, has won 3, and also won the Pulitzer Prize for his semi-autobiographical comedy/drama 'Lost in Yonkers'. 'Rumors' is the only true farce that he has added to his extensive body of work.

CRT Actor Brian Runbeck wins SALT Award

Brian Runbeck, who starred in the title role in Cortland Repertory Theatre's production of 'Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde' last summer is the recipient of the Syracuse Area Live Theatre (SALT) Award for Best Actor of the Summer Season. The SALT Awards recognize outstanding achievement in Central New York theatre productions over the past year. Hosted by the Syracuse New Times, the awards ceremony was held at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse on Sunday, April 26. Primarily an evening for community theatres in Syracuse, this is the sixth year that the awards have included a category for summer theatres, which besides CRT includes the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca and the Merry Go Round Playhouse in Auburn.

Cortland Rep Featured in Southern Theatre Magazine

A photo from Cortland Repertory Theatre's 2009 summer production of 'I Hate Hamlet' is now appearing on the cover of the spring edition of Southern Theatre Magazine. The photo, taken by Cortland photographer and CRT Board Member David Blatchley, was the winner of the magazine's annual Cover Photo Contest. It features actor Robert Boardman as John Barrymore and CRT regular Dustin Charles as Andrew Rally in a scene from the Paul Rudnick comedy. The contest was open to members of the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), which is the largest regional theatre organization in the country. Now in its 61st year, the SETC holds regional auditions for actors twice a year in various cities in the south eastern United States. CRT attends the spring auditions, which will be held this year in Lexington, Kentucky on March 4 - 6.
