Rolex to Host NEW YORK NEW YORK Career Event, 10/6

Rolex presents NEW YORK NEW YORK - Career Transition For Dancers' 29th Anniversary Jubilee on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 7:00 pm at New York City Center, 131 West 55 Street (btwn. 6th & 7th Aves) NYC followed by dinner at The Grand Ballroom at The Hilton New York. From Broadway to the Battery, NEW YORK NEW YORK will take you on a rockin' ride through the most inimitable, iconic entertainment capital of the world - a mecca for arts and culture. Dance with us around our town, the most diverse city alive! This one-night-only entertainment event of the season features the best talent in theatre and dance performing with the Jubilee Orchestra. The show is produced and directed by Ann Marie DeAngelo.

Tarragon to Present LUNGS, 3/4-30

Tarragon Theatre, under the artistic direction of Richard Rose, presents the Toronto premiere of Lungs by the award-winning British playwright Duncan Macmillan. Directed by Weyni Mengesha, whose production of The Small Room at the Top of the Stairs for Tarragon won her a 2012 Toronto Critics Award for Best Director, this much-acclaimed drama opens Tuesday, March 4 and runs to March 30 (with previews from February 25) in Tarragon's Extraspace. PICT to Present U.S. Premiere of DON JUAN COMES BACK FROM THE WAR, 8/8-31

British playwright Duncan Macmillan was asked numerous times to adapt Don Juan Comes Back from the Warby Odon von Horvath, and after reading it in the original German as well as a few translations, he felt compelled to accept the challenge. "I thought it was a fascinating play, to take this extraordinary character - the archetypal lover Don Juan - and refract his character through the dark experience of going through the war, and coming back to a war-torn Berlin as an older man, looking for love and redemption." Macmillan's version of the play has only been produced once before, at the Finborough Theatre in London in 2012. Macmillan traveled to Pittsburgh to attend rehearsals and work with director Alan Stanford and the cast for its U. S. premiere. This production will run August 8-31.

It will be followed by dinner at the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton New York. Joining the show is Liza Minnelli, winner of four Tony Awards, an Oscar, a special 'Legends' Grammy, two Golden Globe Awards an Emmy,and the recipient of the 2012 Rolex dance Award. Liza is one of the entertainment world's consummate performers. She stated, 'It will be an honor for me to present this year's 2013 Rolex Dance Award to the incomparable Ann-Margret at Career Transition For Dancers 28th Anniversary Jubilee.'

Lower East Side Tenement Museum Celebrated with Gala Event; Nearly Doubled Funds Raised

On June 5, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum celebrated its 25th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of its historic landmark tenement at 97 Orchard Street with an extraordinary gala event that immersed guests in the vibrant culture of the Lower East Side. The event raised more than $700,000, nearly double the amount raised at the previous gala. Guests explored a 'living timeline' featuring photography, games, whiskey tastings, palm readings, pushcart shopping and more. Food, beverages and silent auction items were provided by more than forty local businesses, including Russ & Daughters, Economy Candy, the Pickle Guys, DiPalo's Fine Foods and Top Hops. Costumed interpreters portraying past residents of 97 Orchard Street interacted with guests.
