Amore Opera Opens its Gypsy Season this Month

Amore Opera opens its 'Gypsy Season' on May 26th with George Bizet's Carmen at its new home, the Riverside Theatre on Manhattan's Upper West Side. This exciting production of Carmen will be presented in full production with a full orchestra conducted by Richard Cordova, with stage direction by Amore Opera's Artistic Director Nathan Hull.

American Repertory Ballet's Premiere of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE Opens This Week

Over lunch with a friend, American Repertory Ballet Artistic Director Douglas Martin was brainstorming about possible full-length ballets to choreograph for his company. His friend made an unusual suggestion: Jane Austen's 1813 novel of manners, Pride and Prejudice.

On Friday, March 24 at 5:15 p.m., American Repertory Ballet will host "Preview of the Premiere," as part of its On Pointe series. This event will give audiences an in-studio preview of Artistic Director Douglas Martin's latest work - the full-length story ballet Pride and Prejudice. The dancers will perform excerpts of the choreography, and Martin will speak about his work.

ARB/Princeton Ballet School Announces New Studio in Brunswick

American Repertory Ballet/Princeton Ballet School is pleased to announce that it plans to be a resident member of a new, state-of-the-art performing arts complex in downtown New Brunswick. The building, which will be known as the New Brunswick Cultural Center, is slated to open in the fall of 2019. ARB operations included in the new facility will be administrative offices, rehearsal space for the performing company, and two studio spaces for its acclaimed DANCE POWER program and an expanded New Brunswick presence of the Ballet School. (The Ballet School will maintain its Princeton and Cranbury studio operations.)

On Today, January 27 at 5:15 p.m., American Repertory Ballet will host “The Music of Pride and Prejudice,” as part of its On Pointe educational series at its Princeton studios (301 N. Harrison Street, above McCaffrey's Supermarket). This lecture will feature guest speaker Simon Morrison, music scholar and Professor of Music at Princeton University. Attendees will listen to and discuss the music of Ignaz Pleyel, the Austrian-born French composer whose work provides the backdrop for Artistic Director Douglas Martin's world premiere of Pride and Prejudice.

ARB is celebrating its fifty-third year of performances of this classic holiday ballet. Furthering its connection with the local Rahway community, American Repertory Ballet recently held auditions for local Rahway children ages 6-10 years old (must be 6 by October 1st and must be between 44-50 inches in height) to perform alongside its professional dancers in Nutcracker today, November 19 at 2 p.m., and Sunday, November 20 at 1 p.m.
