Matthew J. Pugliese Named New Managing Director of Connecticut Repertory Theatre

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) Artistic Director Vincent Cardinal announced that Matthew J. Pugliese is the theater's new Interim Managing Director. Pugliese is stepping in to fill the role recently vacated by Frank Mack, who served for 10 years as the Managing Director of Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Mack will stay with CRT as Management Associate, and join the Department of Dramatic Arts faculty as Associate Professor of Arts Administration, as he pilots the schools' graduate online certificate in Arts Administration and the new Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration program.

The Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival Begins 6/14

The Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival, now in its 16th year, brings the Denver Center Theatre Company, Primary Stages (New York), and South Coast Repertory (California) to develop new pieces of theatre in the Rocky Mountains. Presented under the artistic direction of Andrew Leynse, (Artistic Director, Primary Stages), and with sponsorship from The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust, the New Works Festival continues Perry-Mansfield's founding principle of nurturing new talent with new work. The Festival is co-chaired by James Steinberg and Karolynn Lestrud and produced by Emily Tarquin. The companies will showcase three different new works in partnership with Perry-Mansfield:

Representatives from 23 states flocked to the Mile High City to attend a marathon of new plays at the 8th Annual Colorado New Play Summit, presented by the Denver Center Theatre Company (DCTC) February 8 - 10, 2013. With a stunning representation of today's top American playwrights, DCTC demonstrated its commitment to new work and solidified its position as one of the nation's top tier new play festivals. This year's Summit hosted artistic directors, literary managers, and dramaturgs representing 31 theatre organizations from across the country, plus media, playwrights, directors, and members of the public, all eager to discover "the next Great American Play." The 2013 Colorado New Play Summit took place at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, 14th and Curtis Streets, in downtown Denver, February 8 - 10, 2013.

With a stunning representation of today's playwrights, presenting shows covering topics as diverse as the effects of immigration status on assimilation, a modern take on Homer's Odyssey, and a bawdy comedy about a man dragged into a drag act, these plays by some of America's top new writers demonstrate the DCTC's commitment to new works and solidify its position as one of the nation's top tier new play festivals. The Most Deserving by Edgerton New Play Award-winner Catherine Trieschmann, The Legend of Georgia McBride by rising star Matthew Lopez, The Vast In-Between by Chicago Jeff Award-winner Laura Eason, internationally-produced Karen Zacarias' Just Like Us (based on the best-seller by Helen Thorpe), and Black Odyssey by multiple award winning poet/playwright Marcus Gardley, are confirmed for the 2013 Colorado New Play Summit, which will take place in downtown Denver February 8 - 10, 2013.
