Chicago Opera Theater presents CPS Student Performances 6/15

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announces its first ever city-wide education performance, "Growing Together," featuring student-written performances from Chicago-area schools. COT's education program, Opera for All, is now in its seventeenth year bringing teaching artists into Chicago Public Schools to educate students about classical music, singing and opera. On June 15, nine classrooms and more than 400 students from schools around the city-including Chase Elementary, Reilly Elementary, McAuliffe Elementary, Eugene Field Elementary, Disney II Magnet Elementary School, Healy Elementary, Whistler Elementary School and Langford Community Academy-conclude the school year with a performance of student-written original songs, dances and scenes. COT's "Growing Together" takes place at The Studebaker Theater (410 S. Michigan Avenue) on Thursday, June 15 at 12:00pm. Admission is free; to RSVP for the program, click here. Chicago Opera Theater Announces 2017/2018 Season

Today, from the Robert Morris State Street Gallery, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announced plans for the 2017/2018 season, including a modern opera, a world-premiere co-production from a Pulitzer Prize-winning duo and a groundbreaking double-bill. At the announcement, Andreas Mitisek, COT's Stefan Edlis & Gael Neeson Artistic Director together with Douglas Clayton, COT's Executive Director, detailed the intriguing season with all productions staged at the historic Studebaker Theater (410 S. Michigan).

The Board of Directors of Chicago Opera Theater (COT) has today announced that Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson Artistic Director Andreas Mitisek will leave his position at the conclusion of this season. Mitisek informed the board of his decision not to renew his contract at a board meeting earlier today.

Today, from the historic Studebaker Theater, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announced plans for its 2016/17 season, which will bring rarely performed operas and a world premiere to a range of Chicago neighborhoods, will target new types of audiences and will set the stage for a bold future ahead for the company now in its 43rd season. The production will run from today, October 4-November 2, 2013 and feature world premiere adaptations of H.P Lovecraft's The Lurking Fear and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The New Catacomb as well as a revival of Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
