La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast of its world-premiere musical Limelight: The Story of Charlie Chaplin, music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis, book by Christopher Curtis and Thomas Meehan and directed by Michael Unger, running September 7 - October 17, 2010 (media night: Sunday, September 19 at 7:00 pm) in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.

La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley and Managing Director Michael S. Rosenberg are pleased to announce the appointment of Deborah Ann Trimble as the Playhouse's new Director of Development. Ms. Trimble will begin full time duties on September 7, 2010.

La Jolla Playhouse announces a new family-friendly Page To Stage Workshop Production: Cankerblossom, conceived and created by Pig Iron Theatre Company, directed by Dan Rothenberg, with cartoonist/puppeteer Beth Nixon, music by Rosie Langabeer, set and animation by Mimi Lien, lighting by James Clotfelter, video projection by Josh Higgason, and performed by Hinako Arao, Beth Nixon, David Sweeney and Alex Torra. Cankerblossom will run August 12 - 15, 2010 in the Mandell Weiss Forum, with performances Thursday, August 12 at 7:00 pm; Friday, August 13 at 7:00 pm; Saturday, August 14 at 2:30 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday, August 15 at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults; $20 for subscribers and $15 for children 12 and under.

The Omaha Community Playhouse honored itstop volunteers at the annual 'Awards Night' ceremony held Monday evening at the theatre, located at 6915 Cass Street. 'Awards Night' is an annual tribute to the thousands of volunteers who contribute their time and talents to the Playhouse.

On Saturday, March 27, La Jolla Playhouse hosted its annual Gala, the La Jolla Playhouse HONORS. Beginning this year, the Gala will launch a tradition of paying tribute to alumni artists and benefactors who have helped put the Playhouse at the forefront of American theatre.

La Jolla Playhouse is proud to announce its 2010/11 season resident theatre company: San Diego Asian American Repertory Theater (SDAART). This marks the third year of the Playhouse's landmark Resident Theatre Program, and the newly-appointed company will be in residence in the Theodore and Adele Shank Theatre (formerly the Mandell Weiss Forum Studio) in August/September, 2010, during which they will present Julia Cho's heartwarming drama BFE. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak, starring Tony Award-winner Jefferson Mays, running Sept/Oct in the Mandell Weiss Theatre; a new adaptation of Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground, adapted by Robert Woodruff and Bill Camp, directed by Robert Woodruff, running late Sept/Oct in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre; and Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Ruined, running Nov/Dec in the Mandell Weiss Theatre. The final production of the 2010/11 season - a musical - will be announced shortly.

On October 12, 2009, La Jolla Playhouse will join with theatres across the country in presenting a reading of the Tectonic Theater Project's new work: The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, by The Laramie Project creators Moisés Kaufman, Leigh Fondakowski, Greg Pierotti, Andy Paris and Stephen Belber. This compelling and groundbreaking epilogue to the original piece will premiere on October 12, 2009 at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and at more than 100 other theaters in all 50 states, Canada, Great Britain, Spain, Hong Kong and Australia.
