Just as central character J. M. Barrie needs to find his true voice in order to break through the writer's block that is hampering his playwriting career, FINDING NEVERLAND, the new musical about the family that inspired the beleaguered author to create Peter Pan, needs to find its voice, too. Teetering abruptly between empty frivolousness and genuine pathos, FINDING NEVERLAND is an uneven adventure in its current pre-Broadway tryout at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass.
As BroadwayWorld previously reported, FINDING NEVERLAND, with music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Elliot Kennedy, book by James Graham, and direction by Diane Paulus, will officially fly to Broadway. According to The New York Times, 'NEVERLAND' spokesperson Rick Miramontez, has confirmed that the new musical, which opened at A.R.T. earlier this week, will settle in at a Nederlander Organization theater in March 2015.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Weinstein opens up about the transfer. He told Deadline: "The reason you go out of town is to try things out. Diane and I are well aware of the things we need to do, especially in the first act. The second act is near-perfect."
Author Colby Van Wagoner releases an action packed, western, book series called 'The Life of Zeke Slade.' The first book is titled, 'Ranger' and is book one in the series. Synopsis: In this coming of age story, Zeke Slade's mother and father are killed just before the Civil War. Shattered by the event, the military seizes his land in order to prepare for the coming war between the North and the South. Zeke leaves for Texas with his father's family friend, Texas Ranger Captain Donovan Walton. In Texas, Zeke Slade grows into a deadly, and notorious, Texas Ranger. He soon meets the love of his life, Evelyn McAllister, and the two are married. Struggle and strife are constant factors Zeke Slade and the other Texas Rangers face in order to enforce the law in Fort Worth, Texas.
Book two is titled 'Fever,' taking place after 'Ranger.' Synopsis: After witnessing the horrific murders of his wife and two boys, Texas Ranger Zeke Slade takes matters into his own hands. Instead of bringing his family's killers to justice, to stand trial, he makes the decision to serve his own justice, avenging the murders of his family on his own terms, breaking his oath as a Texas Ranger. The Adjutant General of the Texas Rangers gives Zeke a second chance and either the choice of facing prison time, or following what many others do to escape the mistakes of their past, by accepting a marshal position in a growing northern Alaskan mining town, where the past marshal was violently gunned down.
In the town of Fever, Alaska, Marshal Zeke Slade is charged with enforcing the law during the gold rush. As tens of thousands of diverse prospectors arrive in the Alaskan territories, constant conflicts occur over land disputes, not only between miners, but with the native's sacred lands and with the diverse Alaskan wildlife. As the gold begins to flow from the miner's claims, outlaws and thieves run rampant through the town of Fever. Pillaging and robbing become a constant struggle, as Zeke Slade enforces the law with his style of Texas justice, along side his young and inexperienced deputies. Fever's banks, gold exchanges, bars, brothels, and supply stores attract violent criminals, as the growing population seeks its share of the gold in 'Fever.'
Both 'Ranger' and 'Fever' are available in paperback and E-Book format on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, and Createspace.com. Other releases, by Author Colby Van Wagoner, can be found at ColbyVanWagoner.com. Enjoy.
