Sunday Special: From Mitchell to Hall - Former Stars of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, with book by John Cameron Mitchell and music and lyrics by Stephen Trask, continues its in-your-face freshman run on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. The production won four 2014 Tony Awards and numerous other accolades, but the musical had much humbler beginnings before becoming the cult phenomenon it is today. Scroll down to learn about the actors who have taken on the role of 'Hedwig Robinson,' rocking audiences with tales of 'her life, her loves, and the botched operation that left her with that 'angry inch'!'

Spoiler Alert! Recap and Review: THE AFFAIR is All Kinds of Cliche and Annoyance

When I first heard about Showtime's new drama THE AFFAIR, I was a bit confused. The majority of the premium channel's new shows boast a major star in the lead; William H. Macy in SHAMELESS, Don Cheadle in HOUSE OF LIES, Liev Schreiber in RAY DONOVAN, Matt LeBlanc in EPISODES… ok maybe they don't all have a big star. However, the most well-known actor in THE AFFAIR is Charlie Conway, Pacey Witter, Peter Bishop, Joshua Jackson, and he's not even one of the main stars. That dubious honor belongs to THE WIRE's Dominic West and LUTHER's Ruth Wilson. Also rounding out the main characters is the always delightful, but hardly a household name, Maura Tierney.

BWW Reviews: New Rep Takes a Shot With ASSASSINS

Despite all of its violence and disturbing themes, Director Jim Petosa and company find the humor in ASSASSINS and are able to make the characters come alive as people with flaws, rather than monsters. In the controversial Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman musical, the cure for what ails them is to kill a President and the 1991 show strikes a chord in our gun-happy culture. A terrific lineup of voices handles the Sondheim score with aplomb.

Photo Flash: First Look at International City Theatre's GLORIOUS!

In 1940s New York, the performer who everyone wanted to see live was Florence Foster Jenkins, an enthusiastic soprano whose pitch was far from perfect. Based on a true story, Glorious! is Peter Quilter's hilarious, Olivier-nominated comedy that invites us into the world of this New York socialite of great passion, considerable wealth and zero talent who fancied herself an opera diva. Richard Israel directs a four-week run at International City Theatre, opening tonight, Oct. 10.

BWW Reviews: Stimulating CHOIR BOY Resonates at Geffen

Tarell Alvin McCraney quite ingeniously explores the inner workings of a contemporary posh big city prep school by pitting five underclassmen against each other as they attempt to find unison in the school's choir. Nothing has changed in the course of the school's longevity; problems that once were a priority, still are. Choir Boy is dexterously directed by Trip Cullman and has a near to perfect acting/singing ensemble, now at the Geffen through October 26 only.

BWW Reviews: Dali Does Disney in Flying V's Inventive, Surreal LOBSTER ALICE

Director Amber Jackson has assembled a brilliant cast, creating an anarchic and, yes, surreal atmosphere in which anything and everything can happen. Zachary Fernebok's performance of Dali is priceless, and Jos. B. Musumeci Jr.'s set is a perfect evocation of the surreal atmosphere of Obolensky's play.

BWW Reviews: LES MISERABLES Ignites Portland Players' Stage

Portland Players takes an adventurous step in opening its season with a grand production of the beloved Boubil-Schonberg classic, LES MISERABLES. Assembling a large cast and mounting an impressive staging, this eighty-six year-old company delivers a performance of passion and heart, if not perfection. And yet the flaws which emerge - sometimes the result of direction or casting, but mostly by-products of the limitations of the theatre space - cannot dim the impact of the performance.
