The King & I revival national tour is closing after tonight's performance in Minneapolis and moving on to the next city but left this writer with memories that were doubly delightful.

The touring production of THE LION KING now playing at the Providence Performing Arts Center is absolutely exceptional. One would be hard-pressed to find a finer or stronger assembly of actors, singers, and dancers than this remarkable company.

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out engagement in Detroit, which concluded on Sunday, February 26 at The Detroit Opera House.  The triumphant four-week return grossed over $6.8 million at the box office and entertained more than 84,000 theatergoers during 32 performances. 

Disney Theatrical Productions and the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) announced today that tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of Disney's THE LION KING will go on sale to the public on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10A. Providence's most eagerly awaited return will once again leap onto the PPAC stage for a limited engagement of 3 weeks from Today, February 28, 2017 at 7P through Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 1P. The opening night is on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 7:30P.

ANASTASIA will begin previews on March 23, 2017 and open on Broadway on April 24, 2017 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Starring Christy Altomare, Derek Klena, John Bolton, Ramin Karimloo, Caroline O'Connor, and Mary Beth Peil, the musical features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally and a lush, original score by Tony Award winners Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics). Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak directs.

Broadway's award-winning best musical, The Lion King, welcomes Stephen Carlile as Scar beginning performances tonight, Tuesday, January 31st, 2017. Carlile makes his Broadway debut, having originated the role of Scar on the UK tour of The Lion King.
