Following an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences, and two weeks of sold-out previews, Berkeley Rep has announced that the world premiere musical of Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding will extend for an additional week.

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out return engagement at The Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis, where the record-breaking tour celebrated its 15th anniversary on April 27.

J.T. Rogers has won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Play for OSLO.

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2016-17 season in 27 categories.

Having this week been nominated for a total of 7 TONY Awards including 'Best Play' and 'Best Director' adding to the 'Best Play' nominations by the Drama League Awards, Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards, public booking opens today for OSLO. 

The producers of the new musical, ANASTASIA, are pleased to announce plans for international productions of the hit musical across Europe, Asia, United Kingdom, Australia and South America. The list of international markets with plans underway for ANASTASIA include Germany, Holland Spain, Russia, Korea, Japan, Mexico, China and more to be announced. Plans for a North American tour are also underway. A confirmed production timeline will be announced soon.

The North American tour of Disney's The Lion King is celebrating its 15th anniversary today, Thursday, April 27 in St. Louis, where the award-winning musical is playing a nearly sold-out engagement at The Fox Theatre through May 7, 2017. 

Casting has been announced for the Greenville engagement of Disney's The Lion King. Greenville's most eagerly awaited return will leap onto the Peace Center stage from Wednesday, May 31, to Sunday, June 25. The show's four-week premiere engagement in 2012 played a sold-out run at the Peace Center.

Ambassador Theatre Group and NETworks Presentations LLC announced that Laura Michelle Kelly (Anna Leonowens) and Jose Llana (King of Siam) will lead the national tour of the Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. The multiple Tony Award-winning Broadway hit will run at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County for a limited time starting May 9 through May 14, 2017.

From the Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway musical RAGTIME, the dazzling new musical ANASTASIA transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920's, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.

The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, will welcome Danny Burstein and Jane Krakowski to announce the nominees for the 2016-17 season on Tuesday, April 25th (11AM) in the Oak Room at New York's renowned Algonquin Hotel (59 West 44th Street). The new musical, ANASTASIA, opens tonight on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street), produced by Stage Entertainment, Bill Taylor (Sister Act, Rocky), Tom Kirdahy (It's Only A Play, The Visit) and Hunter Arnold (Kinky Boots, Spring Awakening). The company is led by Christy Altomare, Derek Klena, John Bolton, Ramin Karimloo, Caroline O'Connor and Mary Beth Peil.

Berkeley Rep today announced that celebrated director Mira Nair will hold a free public event to discuss the creation of the world premiere musical, Monsoon Wedding. Audiences eager for the world premiere can get a sneak peek behind the scenes at Page to Stage on Monday, May 15 at 8pm. Page to Stage is free and open to the public but you must RSVP. Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out engagement in Salt Lake City, which concluded on Sunday, April 16, at The George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater. The triumphant four-week return grossed over $6.2 million at the box office and entertained nearly 75,000 theatergoers during 31 performances. 

Lincoln Center Theater's smash hit production of J.T. Rogers' new play Oslo, directed by Bartlett Sher, re-opens this week at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street), after a sold-out run last summer off-Broadway at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. The National Tour of the Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I brings its parade of adorable children, a pair of star-crossed lovers, an imperial ruler, and a strong-willed, warm-hearted educator to the Boston Opera House through April 23rd. One of the grande dames of the 1950s, THE KING AND I retains its exalted place in the R & H pantheon, thanks to the artistry of Director Bartlett Sher, a songbird by the name of Laura Michelle Kelly, and a flawed King of Siam for our times, Jose Llana.
