STRICTLY SEATTLE to Feature Six New Works by Local Choreographers, 7/25-26

Super-charged Strictly Seattle performances feature six new works by some of Seattle's most celebrated choreographers: 2013 Stranger Genius awardee zoe | juniper, Pat Graney, Bennyroyce Royon, Jody Kuehner, Shannon Stewart, Rosa Vissers and Byron Carr at Broadway Performance Hall. To accommodate sold-out crowds Velocity has added a third performance-a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

The 9th Annual Seattle International Dance Festival, BEYOND THE THRESHOLD Runs 6/13-22

Hundreds of dancers from near and far descend on the vibrant South Lake Union neighborhood for the 9th Annual Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF), Beyond the Threshold. The festival runs June 13-22, 2014 and includes five major components, starting with the free outdoor street fair and dance party kickoff known as Art on the Fly. The Inter|National Series runs over two weekends and includes groups from Brazil, India, Romania and France as well as collaborations between companies from China, Peru, Germany and Seattle. The popular Spotlight on Seattle program challenges three Seattle-based dancer/choreographers (Andrew Bartee, KT Niehoff and Jerome Aparis) to curate an evening of performances. This year's Threshold Institute, led by Dayna Hansen, brings together dancers from across the country for a rare opportunity to study with internationally acclaimed teachers and choreographers. And finally the mysterious Sanity Caferounds out the nine day festival with an artist-driven late evening cabaret-style performance in a secret South Lake Union location.

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival Announces the Full 2014 Schedule, 6/14-8/24

Following the record-breaking attendance of Festival 2013, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival announces the full 2014 Festival free and ticketed event schedule. Jacob's Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, home to America's longest-running dance festival, and a recipient of the National Medal of Arts. Noted dance writer Jennifer Dunning has called the Pillow "the dance center of the nation, possibly the world."

PRISM Quartet Presents HERITAGE/EVOLUTION, Now thru 6/12

PRISM Quartet Turns 30 and the saxophone quartet announces an ambitious three-part concert series in NYC and Philadelphia that charts fresh musical territory: “HERITAGE/EVOLUTION.”The classical PRISM Quartet commissions six of today's most inventive jazz saxophonists to compose sax quintets & sextets and perform them with PRISM. Heritage/Evolution 1: PRISM Quartet with STEVE LEHMAN & RUDRESH MAHANTHAPPA, tonight, April 11 at World Cafe Live, Philadelphia andSaturday, April 12 at Symphony Space, NYC. Heritage/Evolution 2: PRISM Quartet with TIM RIES & MIGUEL ZENÓN on Thursday, May 8 at World Cafe Live, Philadelphia and Today, May 9 at Symphony Space, NYC. Heritage/Evolution 3: PRISM Quartet with DAVE LIEBMAN & GREG OSBY on Wednesday, June 11 at World Cafe Live, Philadelphia and Thursday, June 12 at Symphony Space, NYC. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet Names Alexandra Damiani as Artistic Director, Crystal Pite as Associate Choreographer

Nancy Laurie, Founder and Board President of Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, announced the appointment of Alexandra Damiani as the company's new Artistic Director effective immediately. Damiani has worked with Cedar Lake since 2005 as Ballet Master and Rehearsal Director of the 16-member troupe. Crystal Pite will join Cedar Lake as Associate Choreographer contributing a minimum of two works over the next three years.

PHILADANCO Premieres BLOOD, SWEAT and DANCE, 4/17-19

Spring comes in leaps and bounds with the return of Philly's own modern dance company Philadanco performing Blood, Sweat, and Dance, Thursday -Saturday, April 17-19, 2014, at Perelman Theater. Known for their electrifying dance moves mixing energized modern dance with the elegance of classical ballet, Philadanco's new program highlights include the company premiere of 'Bad Blood,' a rarely performed piece by renowned choreographer Ulysses Dove; juxtaposed with the return of 'Philadelphia Experiment' by Philly-native and world renowned hip hop choreographer Rennie Harris; the late Philadelphia choreographer Gene Hill Sagan's classic, 'Suite en Bleu;' and acclaimed modern dance choreographer Donald Byrd's 'Bamm.'

'Ali Baba Had Them Forty Thieves...' Meet the Full Cast of ALADDIN, Opening Tomorrow on Broadway!

Disney's Aladdin, a new musical comedy based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, opens tomorrow night, March 20th. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the show features music by Tony Award and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida) and two-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Beguelin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon). PRISM Quartet Announces Release of PEOPLE'S EMERGENCY CENTER

In tandem with the recently announced Heritage/Evolution, PRISM Quartet announces the release of their new 2-disc recording People's Emergency Center, Music for Saxophones by Matthew Levy. Street Date: May 27, 2014 on Innova Recordings. The album features seven distinctive jazz voices as guest artists: Tim Ries, soprano saxophone, Rudresh Mahanthappa, alto saxophone, Jason Moran, piano, Ben Monder, guitar, Jay Anderson, bass, Bill Stewart, drums, and François Zayas, percussion.

5th Avenue Theatre Announces 2014-15 Season - KINKY BOOTS, SOMETHING ROTTEN World Premiere & More!

Standing before a packed house of subscribers, Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong revealed The 5th Avenue Theatre's 2014/15 season. "Every year we try to choose a season that embodies our mission: to celebrate our great indigenous art form, The Musical - past, present, and future," Armstrong said. "With an array of shows ranging from a hotly-anticipated Broadway tour to a hilarious world premiere, not to mention celebrated contemporary classics and one of the immortal musicals from the Golden Age of Broadway, we believe that this season truly represents the breadth and depth of what musical theater has to offer."

Joffrey Ballet School Winter Concert Features 100 Dancers, 2 Debuts and 5 Restaged Works This Weekend

Joffrey Ballet School, a world-renowned dance center offering the most versatile and highest quality training, will present a Winter Concert collaboration highlighting the schools' Jazz and Contemporary Trainees and the Joffrey Concert Group.
