The award‐winning new musical Empire, by Caroline Sherman and Robert Hull, is headed to the Great White Way for the 2009‐2010 season.

Ritchie Mastascusa was the Gypsy Robe recipient for Irving Berlin's White Christmas at the Marquis Theatre. He passed on the robe to Pal Joey's Eric Sciotto in a fun and emotion filled ceremony. The colorful Gypsy Robe, embellished with mementos from Broadway musicals, is presented to the cast member who has the most Broadway chorus credits.

Village Theatre Pied Piper presents the enchanting holiday production, The Velveteen Rabbit, produced by Enchantment Theatre Company. The classic book, The Velveteen Rabbit, comes to life through this new musical version of the tale using puppets, masked actors, and magic. With a backdrop of beautiful scenery, there is an original score by Grammy and Tony Award-winning composer Don Sebesky and award-winning lyricist Gloria Nissenson that makes this imaginative production a delightfully new experience in family entertainment.

The Hollywood Reporter stated today that Martha Plimpton, currently starring in the Broadway revival of Pal Joey at Studio 54, will be part of the cast of the new Showtime pilot 'The End of Steve.'

Understudy Matthew Risch has taken over the title role of Joey Evans in PAL JOEY for an injured Christian Hoff. Hoff has withdrawn from the Broadway musical due to his injury. Risch in a classic theatrical twist of fate now will head the Roundabout revival. The official press opening night is delaying one week later than originally planned to December 18th to allow for this sudden cast change.

Understudy Matthew Risch has stepped into the title role of Joey Evans in PAL JOEY while an injured Christian Hoff rests. Hoff injured his foot Friday evening and the production cancelled the Saturday Matinee on November 22nd. Risch will continue in the role for tonight's special Monday night performance.

The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Awards were announced at a West Coast ceremony last night and A Catered Affair, the new musical with book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, score by John Bucchino and directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle, was the big winner with 7 awards, including Outstanding New Musical.
