East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, concludes its 47th Anniversary Season, themed Spirited Away, with the musical CHESS, book by Richard Nelson, lyrics by Sir Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Aida), and composed by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson (ABBA, Mamma Mia!). CHESS will be directed by Tim Dang, musical direction by Marc Macalintal and choreographed by Marc Oka.

3-D Theatricals' final show of the 2012 season is the Tony Award-winning musical HAIRSPRAY, featuring choreography by Dana Solimando, musical direction by Allen Everman, and directed by 3-D Theatricals Executive Producer and Artistic Director T.J. Dawson. HAIRSPRAY opened on Saturday, October 13 and performed through Sunday, October 28 at the historic Plummer Auditorium, 201 E. Chapman Ave. in Fullerton. HAIRSPRAY then traveled across town to perform at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd., for three performances only, ending today, November 4. The award-winning, professional San Diego Musical Theatre (SDMT) produces the critically-acclaimed Broadway rock opera "Rent" June 22 - July 8 at its new home, the beautifully restored Birch North Park Theatre. Actress Gwen Stewart, from the original Broadway and touring productions of "Rent," will reprise the role she created, Mrs. Jefferson, introducing the solo vocals for the musical's central theme song, "Seasons of Love."

Singer/musical comedy actress Domonique Paton, runnerup in LA's Next Great Stage Star 2010 made her cabaret debut Sunday June 27 at Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's to a thundering standing ovation. What potential for great success this young artist has! She is vibrantly alive with a strong voice and steadfast delivery that in the past have served quite well the like of Stephanie Mills, Diana Ross and Miss Lena Horne who all had gigantic careers on Broadway, the big screen and in the recording studio. Paton possesses that rare star quality that will sustain her for life if she keeps on singing. Virtuoso pianist/accompanist James Lent served as musical director.
