Shakespeare Uncovered continues with a second season on PBS, beginning Friday, January 30 at 9 p.m. (check local listings) and continuing the following two successive Fridays.

And when well performed by actors who fully comprehend the psyche of their character as well as the meaning of Shakespeare's vocabulary, brilliance happens.

Annenberg Center Live kicks off its fall season with the U.S. tour of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Company's King Lear. Direct from London, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre presents a faithful restaging of King Lear that's filled with tempestuous poetry, touches of humor and moments of heart-rending simplicity. This production of what is considered Shakespeare's greatest tragedy features stage and screen actor Joseph Marcell, known for his role as Geoffrey in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show runs today, September 24-27 at the Annenberg Center at 3680 Walnut Street.

Tooting Arts Club to Stage SWEENEY TODD at Harrington's Pie and Mash Shop This Autumn

Tooting Arts Club presents: Sweeney Todd. London's oldest pie and mash shop hosts an intimate staging of Sondheim's most famous musical, directed by Bill Buckhurst with musical director Ben Cox. Sweeney Todd features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. Performances take place at Harrington's Pie and Mash Shop, Tooting, 21st October to 29th November.

Shakespeare's Globe to Bring HAMLET, KING LEAR to Folger Theatre's 2014-15 Season; Lineup Announced!

Folger Theatre Artistic Producer Janet Alexander Griffin today announced the 2014/15 season. With six full Shakespeare productions on stage at the Folger to celebrate the Bard's 450th, Folger Theatre will start the upcoming season with two special, limited engagements by London's Shakespeare's Globe. First, the acclaimed staging of Hamlet, seen at the Folger in 2012, returns in late July for just three performances as part of their Globe to Globe Hamlet, the ambitious two-year tour bringing the Danish prince to every country in the world. Then, once again in a September residency, Shakespeare's Globe will perform King Lear for eighteen shows. Joseph Marcell (TV's The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Jacques in Folger Theatre's 2007 As You Like It) plays the title role.

Chicago Shakespeare Sets 2014-15 Season: HAMLET, KING LEAR, SEUSSICAL & More

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and Executive Director Criss Henderson announced today eight productions of the upcoming 2014/15 Season, which includes four major Shakespearean titles, plus a sequel to Shakespeare's epic tragedy and a world premiere musical based on a classic novel.

NYU Skirball Center to Sponsor SHAKESPEARE AROUND THE WORLD Panel at Metropolitan Museum of Art, 3/4

NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will sponsor a panel discussion on 'Shakespeare Around the World' on Tuesday, March 4 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street). The event begins with an open exhibit of 'Ink Art' at 3PM, followed by the 4PM panel discussion and a 5PM reception. The panel is free with museum admission. TWELFTH NIGHT & RICHARD III Extend Broadway Run Through 2/16

The all-male Shakespeare's Globe repertory productions of William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT and RICHARD III, which have broken the box office record at the Belasco Theatre and earned across the board ecstatic critical praise, will be extended by popular demand for an additional two weeks. The productions, which are directed by Tim Carroll and designed by Jenny Tiramani, with music by Claire van Kampen, will play through February 16, 2014 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street).
