ArtPlace America Donates $350K to Miami's Adrienne Arsht Center and O Cinema

ArtPlace America, one of the nation's largest organizations committed to creative place-making, is investing $350,000 in new grant dollars for culturally-based development and programming in Miami's urban core. The Adrienne Arsht Center has been awarded a $250,000 grant to establish an Office of Neighborhood Development in association with the Town Square Neighborhood Development Corporation (TSNDC), making it one of the first performing arts centers in the country to have an office dedicated to the development of its surrounding community. O Cinema, Miami's premiere venue for independent, foreign, and art films, has been awarded $100,000 for the development of Cine Al Fresco, a sustainable green space and outdoor theater in Wynwood. ArtPlace America selected the organizations from a pool of more than 1,200 applicants.

B Street Theatre's FANTASY FESTIVAL XXVII School Tour Plays Public Performance Today

This week The B Street Theatre School Tour production of Fantasy Festival XXVII hits the road. This is the 27th year that elementary and middle school students throughout northern California have submitted original plays to B Street Theatre's annual playwriting contest for young people. Out of over 150 plays submitted this year, just five have been selected for the tour. The show presentsall five winning plays at 144 assemblies in over 108 schools in northern California between March 18 and June 7, 2013, with a special public performance at the B Street Theatre today, April 27 at 10:00 am.

The jury will be divided among the seven competitive Festival categories. Yale Drama Series Names Jen Silverman's STILL as 2013 Winner

Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman has selected playwright Jen Silverman as the winner of the 2013 Yale Drama Series for her play Still, chosen from almost 1100 entries from 30 countries. As winner of the competition, Still will be published by Yale University Press, receive a staged reading at Lincoln Center Theater's Claire Tow Theater, and Ms. Silverman will be presented with the David Charles Horn Prize, a cash award of $10,000.

The Winfield Gallery presents the exhibition LUMENIS- New Paintings of Tracey Adams. LUMENIS continues to explore Tracey Adams' fascination and ongoing interest in the areas where art and music intersect and overlap: gesture, line, color, space, pattern, etc. This series of paintings incorporates encaustic monotypes (pigmented beeswax printed on Japanese papers) which are then collaged on panels and glazed with many layers of acrylic, then covered with cold wax.

GIANT Original Cast Album Gets 5/21 Release

Ghostlight Records will release the Original Cast Recording of the acclaimed epic musical GIANT online and in stores on May21, 2013. GIANT had its New York Premiere at The Public Theater last fall, and was a co-production with Dallas Theater Center. GIANT features music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, and a book by Sybille Pearson, based on the novel by Edna Ferber.
