1st International Biennial of Contemporary Art, CARTAGENA DE INDIAS, COLOMBIA Opens Today

#1: Cartagena, an exhibition of contemporary art with both international and national artists, is a Biennial created with the idea of further enhancing Cartagena's image as a significant cultural center. In a city with existing deep connections to literature, cinema, music, dance and crafts art, the exhibition will honor these cultural manifestations through the artworks presented. Bringing together artists from different countries and generations, whose works will be exhibited throughout the city of Cartagena, the Biennial will include painting, sculpture, photography, electronic and audiovisual media, installation and performance.

Park City Institute presents award-winning cinematographer, director and producer Louie Schwartzberg tonight, January 31 as part of the 2013-2014 'Future in Review' speaker series. The evening, Saving Our Planet: Nature's Mysteries Revealed through the Lens, fills the intimate Black Box Theater of Park City's Eccles Center with Schwartzberg's awe-inspiring images and a talk at 7:30p.m.

Festival of Brazilian Dance Set for The Joyce Theater, 2/24-3/1

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. will present a three week showcase of Brazilian dance from February 26 - March 16. Three Brazilian-based companies will be making their Joyce Theater debuts during the festival: Mimulus Companhia de Danca (Belo Horizonte) from February 24-March 1; Companhia Urbana de Danca (Rio de Janeiro) from March 3-6, a co-presentation with 651 ARTS; and Focus Cia de Danca (Rio de Janeiro) from March 8-10. These acclaimed companies will be joined by audience favorite DanceBrazil, closing out the festival from March 12-16. Tickets for all companies range in price from $10 to $49 ($26 to $37 for Joyce Members) and can be purchased through JoyceCharge at www.Joyce.org, or by calling 212-242-0800. Please note: ticket prices are subject to change. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street, in Chelsea.

Some people call Grease 2 a guilty pleasure. Many more consider it to simply be a bad film. And then there's the rest of us: people who come across it at an early age (often too young to understand what the 'Reproduction' lyrics we like to sing at the dinner table mean), genuinely love it to pieces and never let it go, who at various points in our lives come across fellow fans - there is no quicker bond - with whom we can recite the dialogue and sing the songs, fuelling our shared fervour, and on and on it goes.
