The legendary play with music, 'Zoot Suit,' just kicked off rehearsals at Center Theatre Group. 'Zoot Suit' begins previews January 31, opens February 12 and continues through March 12, 2017, at the Mark Taper Forum. Written and directed by Luis Valdez, 'Zoot Suit' is presented in association with El Teatro Campesino. BroadwayWorld has a peek at the company in rehearsal below!

On January 6 and 7 at 7:30 PM, Music Director Thierry Fischer conducts the first Utah Symphony performance of 2017 with Tchaikovsky, Ives, and Webern. Tchaikovsky's famous violin concerto will be performed by guest artist Noah Bendix-Balgley in his Utah Symphony debut. Utah Symphony's performance cycle of Charles Ives' symphonies continues with Symphony No.2, joining Brahms and Beethoven as three complete composer cycles programmed on the O.C. Tanner Company Masterworks Series this season. Webern's Variations for Orchestra rounds out the program with a later work inspired by nature. With a goal of topping last year's record-breaking $525,000 raised in its ongoing battle against Parkinson's disease, LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2017: The Beat Goes On, presented by the Asbury Park Press, is kicking off in Montclair, NJ as LIGHT OF DAY NORTH JERSEY: Artists Up Close & Personal, an intimate concert event for the world-renowned Light of Day Foundation. The 10-day Light of Day Winterfest will bring over 150 music acts to 30 venues in three New Jersey cities, New York City, and Philadelphia, January 6-16, following holiday season tours of Europe and Canada.

A British Invasion is headed for the Jersey Shore to help LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST 2017: The Beat Goes On, fight the global battle against Parkinson's Disease with special concerts headlined by guitar god Albert Lee and legendary producer-performer-executive Peter Asher; a special guest appearance by Badfinger original Joey Molland; the nation's #1 Led Zeppelin tribute show, and a fully orchestrated 'Mad Dogs & Englishmen' recreation saluting the late vocal great Joe Cocker.

Jessica Lang Dance, the company founded by award-winning choreographer Jessica Lang, will perform a return engagement on the Eccles Center Stage, Friday, January 13 at 7:30 PM. 

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts continues its 2016-17 Jazz series with the Marcus Roberts Trio - featuring Marcus Roberts, piano; Rodney Jordan, bass; and Jason Marsalis, drums - on Saturday, February 4, 2017, 8:00 p.m. at the Miller Theatre (2960 Broadway at 116th Street). 

Park City Institute's traditional New Year's Eve show features the penultimate master of ceremonies Alan Cumming, in his one-man show, 'Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs,' December 31 at 8:00 PM at the Eccles Center in Park City.

Park City Institute continues its rich tradition of engaging in dialogue on important issues, presenting a panel on Criminal Justice Reform, with Van Jones, January 7 at 7:30 PM. Jones, an attorney who has spent countless hours on CNN as a political commentator, will share his insights on the ways in which the criminal justice system is ineffective and the role it plays in the cycle of inequality in this country.

Pacific Mambo Orchestra brings their twist on the classic sounds of Latin Big Bands to the Eccles Center stage Today December 17. Their self-titled debut album was produced and released with funds the band raised on Kickstarter-and took them to a Grammy win for Best Tropical Album that beat out big-label artists like Marc Anthony and Carlos Vives.
