The Board Directors of Coney Island USA is announcing the appointment of Earl Lawrence Tucker as its new Executive Director. Earl's leadership and management experience as a non-profits arts director will bring new energy to build and expand Coney Island USA's programming and facilities as we promote American popular culture to new generations and new audiences through innovative exhibitions and performances. Earl's history as a both a showman and arts administrator is completely in line with Coney Island USA's desire to carry its mission forward into the future.

Coney Island USA has announced the exhibition of the world's largest art installation ever created with desktop 3D printer technology at the Coney Island Museum. Thompson & Dundy's Luna Park: 3D Printed by the Great Fredini is a year-long installation by artist Fred Kahl, which will open in the Coney Island Museum on Sunday, May 25. An artist's reception will be held on Sunday, July 6 from 2-6pm. This living museum exhibit will expand over the course of the year to recreate the ornate art and architecture of Coney island's heyday 100 years ago.

On June 3rd at Midnight, the 27-day $100,000 Kickstarter campaign to save Coney Island's Mermaid Parade will come to a close. On the morning of May 30th, the initial goal was met through small contributions from people around the world. The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has announced that it has reached 1,200 members with the addition of Coney Island USA. In existence since 1980, Coney Island USA is responsible for bringing a number of great events to the famous Brooklyn neighborhood, including the annual Mermaid Parade along Surf Avenue.
On Thursday, May 24, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to kick off the summer season in Coney Island with the announcement of two brand new thrill rides and the beginning of seven-day-a-week amusement operations. Later, BP Markowitz was on hand with actor Tony Danza as John "Cha Cha" Ciarcia celebrated the opening of several new amusements and eateries.
