In celebration of his career as dancer, choreographer, actor, writer and educator, From the Horse's Mouth will dedicate its next theater/dance performance event to Gus Solomons jr, a pioneer and dance legend whose life-long accomplishments exemplify a storied career spanning more than 60 years.

New York Live Arts recently announced the artists selected for the 2015-2016 Fresh Tracks Performance and Residency Program. The 2015-2016 Fresh Tracks artists are Melanie Greene, Sarah Lifson, Eli Tamondong, EmmaGrace Skove-Epes and Jonathan Gonzalez, and Georgia Wall and Itamar Segev. These artists will present their works in the Fresh Tracks performance showcase, this weekend, February 5 - 6, 2016, at 7:30pm.

This past Thursday, Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) opened its doors to the community for an intimate gathering in their studios at the Everett Center of the Performing Arts on 152nd Street (between Amsterdam and St. Nicholas Avenues) to ring in the new year. As part of their Thursdays@DTH series, this evening's theme, Making Dance Communicate, consisted of an open rehearsal of two pieces and a conversation led by Artistic Director Virginia Johnson, with the incomparable Dianne McIntyre and the legendary Carmen de Lavallade.

Dance Theatre of Harlem, one of the world's leading dance institutions, currently in its 46th year, announced today programming for its triumphant return to New York City Center (131 West 55th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues) for four performances only, from April 6-9.

Annenberg Center Live opens its dance season with four performances from Urban Bush Women. This legendary all-female dance troupe performs this weekend, October 22-24 as part of Dance @ Annenberg Center Live and the Annenberg Center's African Roots, American Voices programming series. The Dancing Wheels Company presents a world premiere concert tonight, Oct. 10 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of America's first-and-foremost Physically Integrated Dance Company and the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (the iconic law that changed the face of equality for persons with disabilities throughout the U.S.).

City College Center for the Arts and Clark Center NYC join together in celebration of The Clark Center for the Performing Arts with a presentation of the acclaimed dance/narrative series From the Horse's Mouth on Thursday, October 1 and Friday October 2 at Aaron Davis Hall. The From the Horse's Mouth production will serve as the culmination of Clark Center NYC's weeklong residency at City College Center for the Arts, made possible, in part, by funding from the CUNY Dance Initiative. Performances of From the Horse's Mouth begin at 7pm. A reception will follow the October 1 performance.

Annenberg Center Live has unveiled a dance season that includes a quintet of diverse artists celebrating the wide landscape of dance in modern times. The new series begins with a one-two punch of a rare local appearance by Urban Bush Women (October 22-24) and Twyla Tharp's 50th Anniversary Tour (October 30-November 1) and continues in 2016 with performances from Ballet Hispanico (February 5-6), Dance Theatre of Harlem (March 3-5) and Meredith Rainey Dance (April 1-2). Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

The shared program features the world premiere of Time is Time created and performed by acclaimed dancer and choreographer Dianne McIntyre, and the New York City premiere of Charles O. Anderson's Restless Natives.

New York Live Arts today announced the schedule of its second annual Live Ideas festival, James Baldwin, This Time! taking place April 23 - 27, 2014.

The Joyce Theater (Linda Shelton, Executive Director), the nation's largest theater devoted to modern dance, announced today programming for its 2014 Spring / Summer Season featuring extraordinary companies, including Joyce debuts and highly anticipated engagements such as a festival of all Brazilian dance, and Wendy Whelan's NYC premiere of Restless Creature.

Four award-winning contemporary choreographers take inspiration from expressive guitar music to create this year's Dance Downtown, the annual concert that showcases the talents of undergraduate and graduate dance majors in The Ohio State University Department of Dance. The production will be staged at 8 pm Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, at the Capitol Theatre, Riffe Center, 77 South High St. in downtown Columbus.
