Producers of Finding Neverland are thrilled to announce today the highly anticipated return of Emmy-winner and Tony-nominee Kelsey Grammer to the show for seven-weeks only, from January 19 – February 28. 

There are the warhorse musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, and Irving Berlin; there are the lavish productions befitting Phantoms in opera houses and French revolutionaries and revisionist fairy tales (and you know the ones I mean); there are the Disney powerhouses; and . . . there are musicals of a quaint, mind-nudging nature that don't quite fit into any category. Certainly THE FANTASTICKS comes to mind, and -- at least in the previous productions I have seen -- Stephen Schwartz's PIPPIN. Somewhere in my video collection is a filmed version of the musical with William Katt, and just a few years ago PIPPIN was the first musical staged at the shiny, new Playhouse on the Square (with Alvaro Francisco stepping in for a sidelined Jordan Nichols). I sometimes think that small-scale musicals are better suited to venues less grand than the Orpheum; I needn't have worried, however, as PIPPIN has acquired the kind of theatrical, Cirque du Soleil-style atmosphere that perfectly suits the show's opening number, 'Magic to Do.'

Second Stage's New York premiere production of INVISIBLE THREAD is now in previews at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 W 43rd Street). Tony Award winner Diane Paulus directs the new musical production, written by Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews. Darrell Grand Moultrie co-choreographs with Sergio Trujillo as choreographer. Harvard University and the Board of Trustees of the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) announced today that Diane Quinn will join the 35 year old institution as its new Executive Director and assume the role beginning December 1, 2015.  In this new position, she will work with Diane Paulus who continues as Artistic Director of the A.R.T.

Additional casting has been announced for the Broadway production of Waitress. The new musical opens onSunday, April 24, 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue), with previews starting on Friday, March 25, 2016. DIAMOND (Stick Fly), directed by Tony® Award winnerKENNY LEON (A Raisin in the Sun, The Wiz Live!).  MAHERSHALA ALI (House of Cards), JOSHUA JACKSON (The Affair), ANNE SON (My Generation), and TESSA THOMPSON (Creed) will co-star in the production.

A slew of Broadway performers are set for the next installment of the 'Broadway Sings' concert series honoring Sara Bareilles. A cast of 20 Broadway stars will sing completely new arrangements of the singer-songwriter's greatest hits, including cast members from the pre-Broadway run of Bareilles' musical Waitress at American Repertory Theatre. The performers will be accompanied by a string orchestra playing original orchestrations, tonight, November 2, at the Highline Ballroom.
