Tchaikovsky Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl Features Top-Ranked Drum Corps in Evening of Music and Fireworks, 8/16-8/17

The Los Angeles Philharmonic presents the Tchaikovsky Spectacular with Fireworks, Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17, at 8 pm, at the Hollywood Bowl. Robert Moody conducts the orchestra in the all-Tchaikovsky program which includes Selections from Swan Lake Suite, Op. 20, Capriccio Italien, Festival Coronation March and a Ukrainian Folk Song Suite (drawn from the Symphony No. 2). The annual Bowl tradition offers a new twist this season - the brass, drum corps and color guard of three of California's top-ranked drum and bugle corps, Pacific Crest, Santa ClaraVanguard, and the Vanguard Cadets, recent winners of the Drum Corp International Open Class World Championship Finals, performing in a Drumline-style collaboration. The program culminates with the thrilling 1812 Overture accompanied by cannons and a spectacular fireworks display.

The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is pleased to announce its 2013-2014 concert season. Under the continued artistic leadership of Music Director José-Luis Novo, the season will feature the Lexus Classic Series, a combination of five classical concerts, as well as a Holiday Pops concert sponsored by PNC Wealth Management, a Family concert and a free summer Pops in the Park concert presented by Lexus. All concerts are performed at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, MD with the exception of the Pops in the Park concert which is held at Quiet Waters Park amphitheater, also in Annapolis.

The Met's annual concert series in New York City parks is one of the most popular summer traditions in the city. The Summer Recital Series returns in 2013 with six performances in the parks of all five boroughs. The series kicks off with a concert at Central Park SummerStage on July 16, featuring rising opera stars soprano Erin Morley, mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard and tenor Stephen Costello. The Brooklyn concert takes place at Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 1, the largest pier of the park on the East River.

Magnetic, Terence Blanchard's stunning new album is set for release May 28 on Blue Note Records. The album features ten original songs written by Blanchard or a member of his quintet: saxophonist Brice Winston, pianist Fabian Almazon, bassist Joshua Crumbly, and drummer Kendrick Scott. Soprano Angela Meade Named Washington National Opera's Artist of the Year

Angela Meade has just been named Artist of the Year by the Washington National Opera (WNO). The May 13 announcement comes on the heels of the soprano's triumphant company debut, in which she "thrilled WNO devotees with her nearly mind-blowing mastery of Bellini's most challenging music" (Washington Times) in the title role of Norma. Previous recipients of the Artist of the Year award, which carries a $5,000 cash prize, include mezzo-sopranos Frederica von Stade and Denyce Graves, tenor Jerry Hadley, and conductor John Mauceri.
