The Associated Press is reporting that composer Joseph Brooks, most notable for his ballad, 'You Light Up My Life', which earned him an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1977, has settled a lawsuit with his former fiancee whom he accused of conning him out of cash and material possessions.

Arnas, Jenkins, Naughton, Esparza & More Lead 92nd Street Y's 2010 Lyrics & Lyricists

The 92nd Street Y has announced casting for the 2010 season of Lyrics & Lyricists. Lucie Arnaz, Debby Boone, Capathia Jenkins, James Naughton and Raúl Esparza are among the performers who will present the music of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, Johnny Burke and Hoagy Carmichael. The season also includes a night of songs made famous by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and one devoted to the art of the satirical song, featuring works by Tom Lehrer, 'Yip' Harburg, Stephen Sondheim and others. The season is curated by series artistic director Deborah Grace Winer, and a line-up of guest artistic directors - Lucie Arnaz, Daryl Sherman, Rob Fisher, and Ted Sperling.

Deborah Grace Winer Hosts 'Lyrics and Lyricists' at Y

Journalist and playwright Deborah Grace Winer was recently named Series Artistic Director of the 92nd Street Y's legendary American Songbook series Lyrics & Lyricists (beginning with the 2009 season). This month, she comes to the 92nd Street Y as host and artistic director of L&L's I've Got Your Number: Romance, the Rat Pack and Carolyn Leigh, which runs March 29-31. Winer's Carolyn Leigh tribute features vocalists Debby Boone, Loston Harris, James Naughton, and Karen Ziemba. John Oddo is music director, and Mark Waldrop is stage director.

Fred Ebb Tribute with Barrett, Canova, Daly & Garrison at 92Y Feb.23-25

Brent Barrett, Diana Canova, Tyne Daly, and David Garrison are all set as guest artists for 'Life Is a Cabaret: A Tribute to Fred Ebb,' to be presented as part of the 92nd Street Y's Lyrics and Lyricists series running February 23-25. Rob Fisher will be the guest artistic and musical director for the evening, which will salute Ebb, the lyricist of such shows as Cabaret, Chicago, Zorba!, and Kiss of the Spider Woman.

'High School Musical 'Leaps into Toronto September 4

Casting has been announced for the Toronto engagement of Disney's HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. Presented by Disney Theatrical Productions, the division responsible for such smash Broadway hits as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Mary Poppins, and David Mirvish, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL is based on the 2006 Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel Original Movie. The touring company, which is anticipated to travel to more than 60 cities across the United States and Canada, includes a live orchestra and a cast of 34 talented theatrical performers.
