Playwrights, Directors and Actors Arrive for ALLEY ALL NEW Festival

The Alley Theatre's Alley All New Festival, February 2 - February 12, features seven playwrights and more than 30 actors from the Alley and around the country presenting new work through a series of readings and workshop performances, and a premiere production.

New Play DRY POWDER to Make Texas Premiere at Alley Theatre; Cast, Creatives Announced!

Gregory Boyd, Artistic Director of the Alley Theatre, announces the cast and creative team of Sarah Burgess's new play DRY POWDER. Burgess's intriguing play is set amongst those who try to shape, and skewer, the American economy - but it's also a tale about the price of success, and the real cost of 'getting the deal done.'

Cast, Creatives Set for NSangou Njikam's World Premiere of SYNCING INK at Alley Theatre

Gregory Boyd, Artistic Director of the Alley Theatre, announces the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Syncing Ink, which begins previews February 3, opens February 8 and runs through March 5 in the Neuhaus Theatre. Syncing Ink, a semi-autobiographical play by NSangou Njikam leads audiences on a mystical, lyrical Hip Hop ride to discover what it really takes to freestyle.

Special Preview of Suzanne Vega and Duncan Sheik's New Musical Added to 2017 Alley All New Festival

The Alley Theatre announces an added Late Night Preview featuring excerpts from the new musical Lover, Beloved: An Evening with Carson McCullers by Suzanne Vega and Duncan Sheik. The special 50-minute presentation is part of the previously announced lineup of readings and workshop performances, all taking place February 2-12 at the Alley All New Festival. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made now at alleytheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 713-220-5700. All workshop performances and readings are free and open to the public.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM Celebrates Alley Theatre's 70th Season and Shakespeare's 400th Anniversary

Gregory Boyd, Artistic Director of the Alley Theatre, announces the cast and creative team of the Hubbard Theatre season opener, William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.   The Alley's 22nd Shakespearean production celebrates the new stage enhancements with an expansive set, live music and 43 detailed costumes outfitting a full 19-member cast. The production features members of the Resident Acting Company and begins October 7 and runs through November 5. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at alleytheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 713.220.5700.

Alley Theatre Hosts SHAKESPEARE@400; Previews Begin Tonight!

This month, the Alley Theatre hosts Shakespeare@400, a variety of educational and patron-engaging events, centered around the Alley's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream beginning previews October 7, and opening October 12. 

Alley All New Expands Reading Series with Martín Zimmerman's On The Exhale

Alley All New continues its offerings with an additional reading - Martin Zimmerman's On The Exhale. The special reading event marks the official launch of the Alley All New Reading Series, an ongoing series featuring new work in various stages of the development process. The reading, directed by Alley's Associate Director James Black, is on Monday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Texas Room at the Alley Theatre. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made at alleytheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 713-220-5700. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Cleveland Play House Announces Hall of Fame Inductees

Cleveland Play House (CPH) will honor a new class of individuals who have contributed to its vibrant history with a Hall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon on Sunday, October 9th from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Cibreo Privato located at 1501 E. 14th Street.  The 2016 inductees will include Jonathan Bolt, a former resident company actor at CPH who also directed the world premiere of Arthur Miller's The Archbishop's Ceiling; Dean R. Gladden, former CPH Managing Director who was instrumental in CPH's International Theatre Exchanges; Leonore Klewer, former CPH Manager for over a decade; and William Rhys, former CPH company member and Acting Artistic Director.
