de'Adre Aziza Joins Steppenwolf's HOT L BALTIMORE, 3/24-29

Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2010-2011 season with The Hot L Baltimore by Lanford Wilson, directed by ensemble member Tina Landau. The production features ensemble members Alana Arenas, Kate Arrington, Jon Michael Hill, James Vincent Meredith, Yasen Peyankov and Molly Regan with de'Adre Aziza, Sean Allan Krill, TaRon Patton, Namir Smallwood, Samuel Taylor, Allison Torem and Jacqueline Williams. The Hot L Baltimore plays March 24 - May 29, 2011 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St. The press performances are Saturday, April 2 at 3 pm and Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 pm.

WOMEN ON THE VERGE Cast Heads into the Recording Studio Today, 1/19

The cast of Lincoln Center Theater's production of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, the new musical based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar, with book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher, reunite today, January 19, to record the original cast recording of the musical, which ended its limited engagement run on Sunday, January 2 at the Belasco Theatre. The CD, to be released by Ghostlight Records in the spring of 2011 will be produced by David Yazbek and Dean Sharenow with Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer.

WOMEN ON THE VERGE to End Run Early; Show to Close January 2, 2011

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of André Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that its production of WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, the new musical based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar with book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher, will end its run this Sunday, January 2 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44 Street). The musical, which was originally scheduled to run through Sunday, January 23, will have played 30 previews and 69 performances.

WOMEN ON THE VERGE, FREE MAN OF COLOR Will Not Extend Runs

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Lincoln Center Theater's productions of WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN and A FREE MAN OF COLOR will not extend their limited engagement runs. WOMEN ON THE VERGE will close on January 23 as previously scheduled, and FREE MAN OF COLOR on January 9.

Main Street Musicals Presents MAKING WAVES, 11/8

Mainstreet Musicals and WBAI-Pacifica will present a benefit evening called MAKING WAVES on Monday, November 8th at The Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street featuring Hal Linden among others. This is Mainstreet Musical's launch event highlighting songs from musicals that have changed minds, turned corners, roused ire, and generally uplifted the human spirit. The benefit evening will include performances by HAL LINDEN, JILL EIKENBERRY, MICHAEL TUCKER, MARY TESTA, DEBORAH MONK, CASS MORGAN, JANE SUMMERHAYS, CHRIS SARANDON, TIM JEROME, WALTER CHARLES, CAROLE DEMAS, K.T. SULLIVAN, DE'ADRE AZIZA and the cast of HAIR among others. The benefit will be directed by Charles Repole. Mainstreet Musicals and WBAI-Pacifica are teaming up to develop a network of local theatre festivals around the country that will introduce award-winning new musicals into communities where they are absent or in short supply. Mainstreet Musicals is a spin off of National Music Theater Network/NYMF.

Greetings Dear Readers from New York. It's Day 3 here and I'm having a wonderful time. Now I know what you're thinking. "Day 3?! Whatever happened to Day 2?"No you haven't missed an installment. Day 2 is going to have to be delayed until next week but I assure you it will come. The show I saw on Day 2 has not officially opened yet and out of respect, we cannot publish reviews of shows still in previews. The play is "After the Revolution" and it opens next week.
