The Play Company (PlayCo) will launch their season of new theater with the world premiere of American writer Andy Bragen's This Is My Office, November 5-December 8. Directed by Davis McCallum (Water by the Spoonful, The Whale), this site-specific, solo performance by David Barlow (The Film Society, The Castle, and, with PlayCo in 2003, Smashing) unravels a guided tour through an empty office that becomes the unexpected portal to a forgotten New York, and a father's legacy.
The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) proudly reveals this season's Joe A. Callaway Award winners for Direction and Choreography from more than 200 eligible productions in the 2012 - 2013 New York City theatre season. This year's awards will be presented to Ruben Santiago-Hudson for his direction of The Piano Lesson produced by Signature Theatre and Marlo Hunter for her choreography of Unlock'd produced by Prospect Theater Company. The winners join previous Joe A. Producers Fran Kirmser and Tony Ponturo announced today that Bronx Bombers, a new American play written and directed by Eric Simonson, will begin performances on Broadway starting January 10, 2014 at Circle in the Square Theater (235 West 50th Street). Primary Stages has announced that Richard Topol (Broadway's The Normal Heart, The Merchant of Venice) will assume the role of Yogi Berra in their World Premiere production of Bronx Bombers, written and directed by Tony Award nominee Eric Simonson (Broadway's Lombardi). Due to artistic differences, Joe Pantoliano, initially announced to play the role of Yogi Berra, will not continue with the production. The production has delayed its first performance to tonight, September 20. Opening night remains scheduled for October 8 at 7pm. Bronx Bombers runs through October 19 at Primary Stages at The Duke on 42nd Street.

The Public Theater announced the September line-up today for NEW WORK NOW!, the free reading series that allows audiences an opportunity to experience new work by a diverse selection of established and emerging theater artists. The residencies will culminate in panel discussions about Shakespeare's plays, hosted by The Public Theater.
