MCC Theater is presenting the newly reworked and fully re-imagined production of Carrie, the musical, which features music by Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford (Academy Award winning composer and lyricist for the original film Fame) and a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (who also adapted the 1974 novel by Stephen King for the 1976 Brian DePalma film). Directed by Stafford Arima, performances for Carrie begin January 31, 2012, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. As BroadwayWorld.com previously reported, the Tony-winning star of OTHER DESERT CITIES, Stockard Channing took leave from the production on November 18 to undergo arthoscopic knee surgery on November 21. Lauren Klein has been performing the role of 'Polly' while Channing recovers.

Theresa Rebeck provides plenty of mindless fun for the aggressively hip in Seminar, a breezy and enjoyable new comedy that will especially appeal to those who love showing off their urban cultural elitism by laughing very loudly at derogatory references to short stories published in The New Yorker and howling with yuks when a pseudo-intellectual mispronounces Inigo Jones' name while passionately giving a vapid description of the Yaddo artists' colony.
Stockard Channing Out of OTHER DESERT CITIES for Knee Surgery

BroadwayWorld.com has learned that the Tony-winning star of OTHER DESERT CITIES, Stockard Channing is taking a leave from the production to undergo arthoscopic knee surgery on November 21.
A production spokesperson has confirmed that her understudy, Lauren Klein, will perform the role of 'Polly' while Channing recovers. She is expected to return to the production later this week.

Tonight's (Thursday) 8pm performance of SEMINAR on Broadway has been cancelled due to the show's star, Alan Rickman, suffering from an acute respiratory infection. He is hopeful to return to the show tomorrow, for their scheduled Friday night performance.
