Aurora Theater Extends BETRAYED Through 3/8

Due to overwhelming popular demand, Berkeley's Aurora Theatre Company announces that it has extended its critically acclaimed West Coast Premiere of BETRAYED, winner of the 2008 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play. Filled with dignity, humor, and outrage, this provocative theatrical adaptation of journalist George Packer's eye-opening 2007 essay in The New Yorker follows three Iraqi translators who risk their lives to aid the American war effort. Robin Stanton (Permanent Collection, The Busy World is Hushed) helms this thought-provoking production, featuring Bobak Cyrus Bakhtiari, Keith Burkland, Denmo Ibrahim, Alex Moggridge, Amir Sharafeh, Khalid Shayota, and James Wagner. BETRAYED plays now through March 8, with added performances March 4-8, at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. Evan Rachel Wood returns to her theatrical roots in Raleigh at Theatre In The Park (TIP), for a special engagement in Shakespeare?s Romeo and Juliet, starring as Juliet. Ira David Wood IV, Evan?s brother, will make his directorial debut with this production.

This will take place at the Ira David Wood III Pullen Park Theatre at Theatre In The Park, 107 Pullen Road, Raleigh, NC. Ira David Wood III is the event chairman and Charlie Gaddy is the event master of ceremony. Raleigh's only Oscar Night party sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. To raise funds to benefit Theatre In The Park's Annual Fund for Community Arts and Education. Local Oscar fans watch the Awards telecast and projected on larger than life screens. Take home official Academy Awards posters and programs. Buffet and Beverages included in price of ticket. Buffet provided by The Angus Barn. Shakespeare returns to Theatre In The Park with the production of one of The Bard's most famous tragedies, Macbeth, February 5th - 16th. 'Fair is foul, foul is fair.' Power. Greed. Madness. A masterpiece of tragedy, amid the violence and war torn locales and characters, Shakespeare offers frightening and astonishing insights into the passion for political and military power, and the consequences of corrupting power and ambition unchecked by morality or conscience. Ira David Wood III directs a modern spin on this tale of unchecked ambition, setting the play in a post-apocalyptic world and utilizing multimedia as well as embracing the theatre's oldest tradition of performing in masks. Featuring Ira David Wood III as Macbeth and Lynda Clark as the conniving Lady Macbeth, this Theatre In The Park production will excite and frighten Shakespeare lovers and laymen alike. Roald Dahl's 'Big Friendly Giant' Stomps into SCR, November

Beloved author Roald Dahl's tale of a 24-foot giant will amaze audiences young and old when South Coast Repertory's Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) presents The BFG (Big Friendly Giant). Adapted by David Wood and directed by Anne Justine D'Zmura, The BFG will run from November 2 - 18 on the Julianne Argyros Stage.
