Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park, welcomes the cool crooning and killer chops of several acclaimed jazz acts as host to some of SmoothChicago's series of summer concerts.  On May 23, the Grand Opening show and party features saxophonists Ray Silkman and Phil Denny, vocalist Typhanie Monique and more.  On August 15, the Grammy-nominated Jazz Funk Soul Tour electrifies audiences with jazz fusion featuring renowned keyboardist Jeff Lorber, smooth saxophonist Everette Harp, and legendary guitarist Chuck Loeb.

Clairdee Joins Capital Jazz Orchestra in Honoring Billie Holiday Tonight

International touring and recording artist Clairdee joins forces with the Capital Jazz Orchestra, Clayton 'Skip' Poole, Music Director, for a very special 100th birthday tribute to the great “Lady Day”, Billie Holiday, tonight, May 15, at 7:30pm. Based in San Francisco, Clairdee will be performing such Billie classics as “Travelin' Light,” “Any Old Time,” and “God Bless the Child,” along with many other selections featuring both the big band and the more intimate CJO combo.

Stooges Brass Band, Plena Libre, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra and More Set for JAZZ ON THE GREEN 2015

Omaha Performing Arts again presents Jazz on the Green at Midtown Crossing this summer. The free outdoor concert series runs six consecutive Thursdays, from July 9 to August 13, 2015, in Turner Park at Midtown Crossing. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. on the permanent stage of The Pavilion at Turner Park. The lawn is open beginning at 5:00 p.m. every Thursday. This is the fifth year Omaha Performing Arts has presented the popular series.

Omaha Performing Arts presents Grammy®-winning saxophonist David Sanborn in the Kiewit Hall at the Holland Performing Arts Center for a Valentine's Day Weekend performance on Sunday, February 15, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20, and are available at TicketOmaha.com, 402.345.0606 or at the Ticket Omaha Office inside the Holland Center, 1200 Douglas St. Sanborn is part of the 2014/15 Jazz Series.

Powerhouse Vocalist Sari Schorr and Her All-Star Band at The Cutting Room, 7/31

On the heels of her exciting recent performances at Brooklyn's Shape Shifter Lab and Manhattan's Metropolitan Room, powerhouse vocalist Sari Schorr will next appear at The Cutting Room (44 E. 32nd Street, NYC) on Thursday, July 31 at 7 pm. Supporting Schorr will be her all-star band The Engine Room, featuring Rob Paparozzi on harmonica and vocals, Pete Levin on keyboards, Jerry Marotta on drums, John Cariddi on guitar, and Sue Williams on bass. With a distinctive sound and a 5-octave range that draws from her roots in blues, rock and jazz, Schorr will debut a selection of explosive songs from her upcoming CD. The Cutting Room show will also feature drumming and recording legend Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie, who with his indelible sound will revisit some classic moments in funk drumming history, while also offering up some fat new grooves on songs written by Schorr.
