Multi-Grammy Winner David Sanborn to Perform at Holland Center 2/15

In his three-and-a-half decade career, Sanborn has released 24 albums, won six Grammy Awards®, and has had eight Gold albums and one Platinum album. He works in many genres which typically blend instrumental pop, R&B and lately, more and more traditional jazz. Many of Sanborn's most notable collaborations include touring with Stevie Wonder and playing on his album Talking Back; playing with The Rolling Stones and Paul Simon; and touring with David Bowie, with whom he recorded the famous solo heard on "Young Americans." His latest solo album, Only Everything, blends instrumental pop, R&B and the vocals of Joss Stone and James Taylor.

Having contracted polio at age 3, Sanborn was introduced to the saxophone as part of his treatment therapy. By the age of 14, he was able to play with legends such as Albert King and Little Milton. Early in his career, he joined the Butterfield Blues Band and played Woodstock with Paul Butterfield. He toured with several popular acts before moving to New York City and eventually starting a solo career. His first solo release, Taking Off, in 1975 solidified his career. Sanborn won his first Grammy Award® for Best R&B Instrumental Performance for "All I Need Is You" of the 1981 album, Voyeur.

Sanborn worked in television and radio in the 1980s and 1990s. He hosted Night Music from
1988 to 1990, which featured films of jazz legends like Thelonious Monk, Dave Brubeck and Billie
Holiday, as well as banter and memorable music jams by a remarkable list of musicians. He has
