Annabelle Gurwitch Adapts Third Book for Stage; Sneak Peek Set for Nuyorican Poets Cafe Tonight

Annabelle Gurwitch (Dinner and a Movie, You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up, Fired!) is adapting her third book, the forthcoming memoir, I SEE YOU MADE AN EFFORT (Blue Rider Press, March 2014) into a theatrical property, following the success of her past two book to plays: You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up and Fired! A sneak preview of the work in progress is scheduled for Nuyorican Poets Cafe (236 East 3rd Street) tonight, November 12th at 9pm.

DRUNKEN NIGHTS, Live Performance Events for Pubs, to Return to London, Nov 2013

A series of live events created specifically for pubs - will return to London later this month. Contemporary performance company Drunken Chorus will produce a second season of live events, building on the resounding success of their first year, which showcased the work of 18 early career artists. The project is no ordinary season of events - with all of the performances created specifically for the main bar spaces of London pubs.

Michael Cavanaugh Opens Pacific Symphony's 35th Anniversary Pops Season, Now thru 11/9

Orange County, Calif.—Oct. 17, 2013—Praised as “the new voice of the American rock-and-roll songbook” (Billboard) with both Grammy- and Tony-award nominations, charismatic performer Michael Cavanaugh opens Pacific Symphony's 35th anniversary Pops season with crowd-pleasing pop and rock piano hits during his new show, “Michael Cavanaugh: Songs of Elton John and More.” Handpicked by another famous pianist, Billy Joel, to star in the Broadway musical “Movin' Out” in 2001, Cavanaugh quickly gained a reputation for his skillful talents on the piano and lead vocals rivaling those of the “Piano Man” himself. After the musical closed in 2005, he began touring on his own, reinterpreting the modern pop/rock songbook, and eventually bringing his “Songs of Billy Joel and More” to a full house at the Symphony's Fourth of July concert in 2009. Cavanaugh returns to bring his exuberant energy to the music of the “Rocket Man,” for a performance of songs such as “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Benny and the Jets,” “Daniel,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Candle in the Wind” and more—all backed by the lush sounds of the Symphony.

Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre to Present THE PLAY'S THE THING, 10/8-29

The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre is pleased to announce THE PLAY'S THE THING. Directed by Brandon Gardner, this exciting improvised run will play a 4-week limited engagement. Blue Note Jazz Club Announces Sept 2013 Shows - Cassandra Wilson, Joe Sample & More!

Blue Note Jazz Club, the iconic Greenwich Village jazz and blues venue that offers live musical performances every night of the week, is proud to announce an impressive roster of acts this September. Each performer is scheduled for two shows per night, 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm, unless otherwise noted. Doors open at 6:00 pm and reservations are strongly suggested. David Lang's THE WHISPER OPERA and More Set for Lincoln Center's 2013 Mostly Mozart Festival This Week

The third week of the 2013 Mostly Mozart Festival continues with opera performances, both classic and contemporary. Following their acclaimed 2011 Festival production of Don Giovanni, the Budapest Festival Orchestra (BFO) returns to Mostly Mozart with a new production of Mozart's masterwork comic opera Le nozze di Figaro. The final two Festival performances of this great work take place at the Rose Theater in Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall at the Time Warner Center tonight, August 13 and August 15, each at 7pm.
