Sydney Symphony Orchestra Premieres John Adams' SCHEHERAZADE.2 Tonight

The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall will be transformed by the sights and sounds of the Utah desert when SSO Chief Conductor David Robertson presents the Asia-Pacific premiere of a new realisation of Messiaen's monumental creation, FROM THE CANYONS TO THE STARS.

Bramwell Tovey to Conduct New York Philharmonic in Massenet & Falla This Spring

Bramwell Tovey returns to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Massenet's Ballet Music from Le Cid; Falla's Nights in the Gardens of Spain, with pianist Joyce Yang as soloist; and Falla's The Three-Cornered Hat (complete ballet), with mezzo-soprano Virginie Verrez in her Philharmonic subscription debut, Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, April 2 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Metropolitan Opera's 50th Anniversary Season to Feature Bartlett Sher in ROMEO ET JULIETTE, Nina Stemme in New TRISTAN, Gala Concert and More!

The Metropolitan Opera's 2016-17 season, the 50th anniversary of its home at Lincoln Center, will feature 225 opera performances of 26 operas in a varied repertory that ranges from 18th century masterpieces to one of the most acclaimed operas in recent years. Repertoire for the company's 132nd season will include the Met premiere of Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho's 2000 opera L'Amour de Loin, as well as new stagings of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, Rossini's Guillaume Tell, Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, Dvo?ak's Rusalka, and Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. A gala concert on May 7, 2017 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company's Lincoln Center location with performances by opera's leading stars honoring the Met's past and future. Ticket prices will not increase, remaining the same as in the current season, and audience development programs instituted by the company in recent years will continue.  

BWW Review: GHOST THE MUSICAL - Visual Effects Enhance a Well Written Show

With some spectacular visual effects and thrilling performances, Ghost the musical opened at the Regent Theatre last night in front of an appreciative audience. From the outset Jon Driscoll's video projections set the scene for what is a particularly clever musical both optically and emotionally. While Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard's score isn't overtly memorable there are some stunning melodies that capture characters inner thoughts and feelings and move the action forward, staying faithful to the original film with Bruce Joel Rubin adapting his original screenplay for the stage.

David Robertson Opens 2016 With Virtuoso Trumpeter Wynton Marsalis in a Swing Symphony

Sydney Symphony Orchestra Chief Conductor David Robertson will join forces with trumpeter, bandleader and composer Wynton Marsalis to bring the spirit of swing to the Concert Hall in an exuberant opening to the SSO's 2016 season. They will perform the Australian premiere of Marsalis' Swing Symphony as their two 'big bands' - the SSO and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra - come together for an exciting musical journey.

Tony Winner Kelli O'Hara to Make Solo Carnegie Hall Debut During 2016-17 Season; Full Lineup Set!

Carnegie Hall today unveiled its 2016-2017 season consisting of more than 170 concerts as well as wide-ranging education and community programs created by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute. The upcoming season includes performances by many of the world's greatest artists, including Tony winner Kelli O'Hara making her solo headlining debut at the renowned venue on Oct. 29, as well as ensembles representing classical, pop, jazz, and world music, with events presented on Carnegie Hall's three stages, in the Hall's Resnick Education Wing, and throughout New York City.

Rosanne Cash to Conclude Carnegie Hall Perspectives Series, 2/20

Singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash concludes her Carnegie Hall Perspectives series with a performance on Saturday, February 20 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, featuring songs from her Grammy-Awarding winning album The River & The Thread. The record, a collaboration with her partner, producer, and co-writer John Leventhal, musically, narratively, spiritually, and geographically explores the American South. For the second half of the program, Cash is joined by acclaimed musician Jeff Tweedy--founding member and leader of the American rock band Wilco--to perform songs from her storied musical catalogue with an emphasis on songs from her critically acclaimed 2009 album The List.

Nathan Lane to Narrate New York Philharmonic's New Year's Eve Concert

Tony Award-winning star of theater, film, and television - will join this year's edition of the New York Philharmonic's annual New Year's Eve celebration, La Vie Parisienne, narrating Saint-Sae?ns's Carnival of the Animals. Conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, the performance will also feature pianists Inon Barnatan, the Philharmonic's Artist-in-Association, and Makoto Ozone.

Blackbird Theatre dashes into its 10th anniversary with a wickedly witty, joyfully irreverent production of Richard Brinsley Sheridan's The Rivals from Dec. 28, 2015 to Jan. 23, 2016 at The Cultch. Directed by Jessie-Award winning Johnna Wright, the comic masterpiece of love, pride, and other foibles will shift its timeless tale of mistaken identity and overwrought romance from an 18th century setting to 'Downton Abbey'-era Edwardian England.
