In collaboration with the Recording Academy, Great Performances presents GRAMMY Salute To Music Legends 2018®, the third annual all-star concert offering a primetime spotlight for the Recording Academy's 2018 Special Merit Awards recipients. The celebration and tribute concert feature rare performances by honorees and never-before-seen renditions of their classic songs by those they've inspired. Recorded in July at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre, the event premieres nationwideFriday, October 5 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings) and will be available to stream the following day via pbs.org/gperf and PBS apps.

World-Renowned Master Artists Visit OCSA For 2018-2019 Season

Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) students are given the opportunity to study alongside esteemed industry leaders, guest artists and teachers as part of the school's third annual Master Artist Series. The innovative series began in celebration of OCSA's 30th anniversary two years ago and continues to bring high-caliber arts professionals to campus, where they collaborate with faculty to create exceptional learning experiences for students. This season's Master Artist Series kicks off with Broadway actor and recording artist David Burnham ("Wicked," "The Light in the Piazza") performing alongside some of OCSA's own musical theatre students during the school's Season Premiere. The series continues with visiting professionals from the worlds of acting, culinary arts, instrumental and vocal music, musical theater, writing and more.

Church's Chicken' Distributes Over $200,000 In Student Scholarships Throughout The U.S.

Church's Chicken recently announced that it will be distributing scholarships to 227 high school students across the U.S., as part of the 2018-2019 Church's Scholars Program. Now in its fourth year, Church's Scholars has awarded over 600 in scholarships to deserving high school students. This year Church's Scholars will award $227,000 worth of scholarships, made possible by the generous support of Church's Partners Foundation, Inc., which oversees the program that recognizes students for their educational merit, and Church's Chicken franchise restaurants. Six franchisees led the 2018 program efforts including:

Film Composer David Newman, Film Writer Jon Burlingame and Director Dean Parisot Give Master Class at Orange County School of the Arts

Conductor and Composer David Newman is known for creating the music for nearly 100 films, including "Serenity" (2005), "Ice Age" (2002), "Anastasia" (1997), "Matilda" (1996) and many others. He comes from a dynasty of composers, the Newman family being the most nominated for Academy Awards, all 92 for film scoring, arrangement or original song. Jon Burlingame is the nation's leading writer on the subject of music for film and television, and has recently written about the composers and scores in "Phantom Thread," "Black Panther" and "Star Trek: Discovery." He is a lecturer at the University of Southern California, a best-selling author and a regular writer for Variety magazine. Dean Parisot is a film and television director who has recently worked on shows such as "Santa Clarita Diet," "Grace and Frankie" and the pilot for the new NBC dramedy "Good Girls." Parisot is also known for directing the films "Galaxy Quest," "RED 2" and "Fun with Dick and Jane."

The Pasadena Symphony continues its 90th season on Saturday, March 24th with Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini at Ambassador Auditorium with performances at 2pm and 8pm. Music Director David Lockington will lead this mesmerizing program filled with mystery and intrigue, opening with Alexander Miller's contemporary puzzle overture Scherzo Crypto, and closing with an even more cryptic work - the Enigma Variations of Elgar. The program centers around a classic Rachmaninoff melody, with his virtuosic Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini performed by brilliant pianist Andrew von Oeyen.
