Tony Award-nominated actor Jonathan Groff and Daytime Emmy-nominated actress Mandy Bruno have joined the growing list of North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) alumni from Broadway and members of the television community to support the financially struggling musical theatre-in-the-round at events in New York City next week.

NSMT alumni from Broadway and the NYC television community will be appearing at Joe's Pub and The theatre at Saint Peters, home of The York Theatre Company in New York City.The not-for-profit North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) in Beverly, MA is facing severe financial difficulties. The NSMT has provided performing arts and educational programming to millions for 55 years. Effects of the crumpling economy, lower than expected donations and ticket sales all season long have left the theatre unable to cover its operating costs - a national decade-long trend that is impacting theaters across the country. In light of the current situation, the NSMT alumni from Broadway and the NYC television community will be appearing at Joe's Pub. Brian Usifer and select members of the NSMT orchestra will play as well.

Only the second theater company in the nation to produce DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, NSMT is presenting the New England Regional Premiere of the hit show through January 11, 2009. The record-breaking movie debuted on August 17, 2007 and was seen by 17.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched basic-cable telecast in history. Over 3,500 licensed productions of High School Musical: On Stage, the first part in the series, have been produced in the United States and abroad making the title one of the most popular available from Disney.

NSMT is thrilled to bring you and your family the New England Regional Premiere of DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, a fun and fresh new stage version of the record breaking Disney Channel Original Movie. School is out and Troy, Gabriella, and the rest of the Wildcats are spending the summer working at the Lava Springs Country Club which was founded by Ryan and Sharpay's family! With the club's annual talent show right around the corner, things begin to heat up as Troy agrees to sing with Sharpay. Will Troy and Gabriella realize that they're meant to be? Or is it already too late for them to sing one last song together? This musical phenomenon is still going strong and will take over the NSMT stage from December 18 through January 11.

It may be cold outside but it will feel like summer inside North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) as it is transformed into the Lava Springs Country Club for DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2. Following the first Disney High School Musical success last summer, NSMT is pleased to present the second regional production and the New England premiere of DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 from December 18, 2008 through January 11, 2009. The New York Musical Theatre Festival, in association with TPTE LLC, will present the New York premiere of TO PAINT THE EARTH, music by Jonathan Portera and words by Daniel Frederick Levin, directed by Michael Bush (Stormy Weather, Based on a Totally True Story), as part of the 5th Annual NY Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). Performances will run September 22nd-Oct 1st.
