PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT to Open on Broadway March 6, 2011?

According to an equity casting notice, the West End hit, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, will open on Broadway at a house to be announced on March 6, 2011. According to the same notice, the production will first play the Prince of Wales Theater in Toronto, with previews beginning October 12, 2010.

A slew of celebrities from all walks of the entertainment scene have flocked to see 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical' currently playing in the West End at the Palace Theatre. The 'Priscilla' website has compiled videos of these celebrity visits, which include backstage meet and greet with the cast and interviews with the celebrities. Included in these videos are Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Lorraine Kelly, Stephen Fry, Jodi Picoult, David Hasselhoff, Sarah Harding, Martina Navratilova, Miriam Margoyles and Carol Mcready, Ray Meagher, Cilla Black and Christopher Biggins, Heather Small, Greg Burns, Bette Midle, and Jermaine Jackson.

As previously reported, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical will celebrate a year in the West End on 23 March 2010 having completed over 425 performances at the Palace Theatre since its opening last year. From 8 March Jason Donovan (Tick) and Oliver Thornton (Adam) will be joined by Don Gallagher as Bernadette, as booking for the show extends until 26 February 2011. Over the summer (6 June - 5 September 2010) there will be Sunday performances of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical at 3pm. The show is reportedly Broadway-bound thereafter in 2011.

Harvey Fierstein Returns to Toronto in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, 6/8 - 6/13

After five weeks of packed houses and standing ovations, Toronto audiences cannot seem to get enough of the touring production of TONY Award-winning musical FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, starring Harvey Fierstein. Due to popular demand, the production will return to Toronto's Canon Theatre for one week only, June 8 - 13, 2010. Tickets to this limited return engagement are now on sale.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC Extended At The Princess of Wales Theatre Thru January 10; All Seats $30 & $50

The enormously popular production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC cannot seem to satisfy audience demand. The record-breaking run was scheduled to end on January 3, 2010 after 15 sensational months. But audiences want more, so producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish have had to give in and quickly organize one more week of the classic musical. THE SOUND OF MUSIC will enjoy eight more performances, now ending on January 10, 2010.

Toronto's MY MOTHER'S LESBIAN JEWISH WICCAN WEDDING Closes 1/3

MY MOTHER'S LESBIAN JEWISH WICCAN WEDDING, the new musical comedy based on a true story, seems to be a certified hit, selling more than 16,000 tickets at the 700-seat state-of-the-art Panasonic Theatre. Accordingly, producer David Mirvish is extending the show's limited engagement once again from December 13 (the last extension) through January 3, 2010. The new block of tickets is on sale now.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC Raises $11,700.00 For The Actors Fund Of Canada

Audiences were alive with the sound of generosity at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre, donating $11,700 to the Actors' Fund of Canada following performances of The Sound of Music from December 1 to 6. Mirvish Productions' run of the popular classic stars Elicia MacKenzie as Maria and ends its fifteen-month stay in Toronto on January 3, 2010.

Burke Replaces 'Burke' as Captain Von Trapp in Toronto's THE SOUND OF MUSIC, 12/8

Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish have welcomed Simon Burke to their Toronto production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Burke, a versatile star of stage and screen originally from Australia but with a large body of work in the U.K., will take over the role of Captain von Trapp, having played the role in the West End London production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, opposite the 'Marias' of Connie Fisher and Summer Strallen.

Mirvish Theater Changes Line-up, THE BOYS IN THE PHOTOGRAPH Plays 10/20-11/29

David Mirvish is delighted to announce a change to the line-up of shows for the 2009-10 Mirvish Theatre Subscription Season. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton's new musical THE BOYS IN THE PHOTOGRAPH will be the second show in the season, replacing the already announced Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The new show will play October 20 to November 29, 2009 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

ROCK OF AGES Heads North: Tickets on Sale for Toronto Premiere 11/27

Broadway's rockin' goodtime musical ROCK OF AGES is heading north, beginning performances in Toronto on April 20, 2010 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. Tickets for this eagerly anticipated Canadian Premiere will go on sale in person in a fun-filled 1980s-themed event on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre Box Office at 12:30 PM and by phone and web on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 9:00 AM.
