Before the Carnegie Hall performance on March 25, Donald Nally and Michael Gordon will have a 6:30pm pre-concert conversation with John Schaefer, host of WNYC's New Sounds and Soundcheck.
On Sunday March 1st at 3pm, Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble (Dr. James John, Artistic Director) will present the New York Premiere of The Book of Rounds - 21 Songs of Grace, a choral work by award-winning writer and October Project lyricist Julie Flanders and Emmy- award-winning composer Emil Adler, arranged by Keiji Ishiguri, with special guests from the Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School The 5th Grade and Vox Nova Boys Choirs (Emily John, Director), as well as members of the Queens College Vocal Ensemble and October Project vocalist Marina Belica.
The New York City Master Chorale (NYCMC) will present The Little Match Girl Passion, the second concert of its fourteenth season, on Saturday, February 29th at Church of the Holy Apostles in Chelsea. The New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) continues its 2019-2020 season with The McCrindle Concert, presented by the NYYS Orchestra on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2pm, at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, led by Music Director Michael Repper. Where piano fans look to Rachmaninoff for keyboard virtuosity, violinists turn to Paganini. The extraordinary unrestricted funding will support The Crossing's 2019-2020 season, with commissions of Edie Hill, Tawnie Olsen, Gavin Bryars, Daniel Felsenfeld, Aaron Helgeson, Gabriel Jackson, and Michael Gordon at venues such as Crane Arts Icebox, the Met Cloisters, the Hal Prince Theater and Zellerbach Theaters at the Annenberg Center, Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Square, Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, and at The Crossing's home, the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill.

The story takes place one Christmas Eve in 1933 as the Spencer family, known on television as a?oeThe Waltons,a?? awaits the return of their father, who has had to find work many miles from home. With anxious anticipation, his eight children and their mother prepare for Christmas with the uncertainty of his return in the midst of a winter snow storm. The eldest son, who also narrates the tale, is sent out to find his father, encountering many of the town's characters, as well as some revelations about them, himself, and the man for whom he is searching. It is a perfect a?oeget you in the mood for the holidaysa?? experience that will be sure to please Playhouse audiences.
