Olympia Dukakis, Estelle Parsons and More Set for ASPHODEL Reading at 92Y Tonight

In advance of the inaugural Eudora Welty Biennial, which opens in Jackson, Mississippi, 92Y's Unterberg Poetry Center presents a dramatic reading of Asphodel, a story of three women visiting a country estate in memory of an eccentric friend who recently passed away. The production features actresses Olympia Dukakis, Estelle Parsons and Brenda Currin; David Kaplan is the director. The reading will take place tonight, March 11 at 8 PM.

Chicago Theaters Will Unite for Gilda's Club & Sondheim's 85th Birthday at Stage 773, 3/22

On Sunday, March 22nd, a very special performance honoring Stephen Sondheim with proceeds to Gilda's Club Chicago will take place at Stage 773 in Chicago. Improvised Sondheim Project, along with Jeff Award Nominees Option Up, and special guests The Hypocrites and Kokandy Productions, will unite for an evening of entertainment on the occasion of Sondheim's 85th birthday.

This past holiday season, Syracuse Stage patrons donated over $29,000 for organizations providing support for people living with HIV or AIDS. This marks a record-breaking figure for the annual campaign in Syracuse, an effort coordinated by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at theatres across the nation. In 21 years of the campaign at Syracuse Stage, audience members have donated over $337,000 for this cause.

The 46th Annual Jeff Awards Are Announced - THE DANCE OF DEATH, THE NORMAL HEART, BRIGADOON and More!

At the gala 46th Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, October 13, awards were spread among numerous theatres honoring a season of outstanding productions. From Writers Theatre, "The Dance of Death", a battle of wits between a tyrant and his manipulative wife, received the Production-Play award for a large theatre, along with its two principal actors Larry Yando and Shannon Cochran. "The Normal Heart", Larry Kramer's tale of the early indifference in N.Y. about the HIV/Aids crisis, presented by TimeLine Theatre Company, was honored with awards for Production-Play for a midsize theatre and for Director Nick Bowling.
