Announcing 5th Alaska One-Minute Play Festival In Anchorage

The One-Minute Play Festival (1MPF) (Dominic D'Andrea, Producing Artistic Director & Caitlin Wees, Associate Producer) and Perseverance Theatre (Art Rotch, Executive Artistic Director) continue their dynamic partnership for The 5th Annual Alaska One-minute Play Festival with part of the proceeds to benefit The Alaska Native Voices Project, dedicated to serving and uplifting native Alaskan artists.

SU Drama Presents The Anton Chekhov Classic THE SEAGULL

Syracuse University's Department of Drama tackles a seminal work of modern Russian theater as it presents "The Seagull" by Anton Chekhov. First performed In St. Petersburg in 1896, "The Seagull" famously flopped on its opening night and nearly drove Chekhov to abandon playwriting. In 1898, the famous director Konstantin Stanislavsky staged the play at The Moscow Art Theatre where it proved a resounding success and helped establish the company's and the playwright's reputations.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theater of color and the largest producing organization of Asian Pacific American artistic work, celebrates THE COMPANY WE KEEP, its 52nd Anniversary season with the Annual Visionary Awards Dinner & Silent Auction. Recognizing the achievements of individuals who have raised the visibility of the Asian Pacific American (APA) community through their craft, the gala fundraiser takes place on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Hilton Universal City. HUNDRED DAYS Announced as La Jolla Playhouse's Final Production of 2018/19 Season

La Jolla Playhouse announces Hundred Days, book by The Bengsons and Sarah Gancher, music and lyrics by The Bengsons, directed by Anne Kauffman, and movement direction by Sonya Tayeh, as the final production of its 2018/2019 season, to run September 22 - October 21 in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Forum.

Single Tickets Now On Sale for Pre-Broadway Run of HEAD OVER HEELS

Carole Shorenstein Hays announced today that single tickets are now available for Head Over Heels, the new musical comedy featuring the iconic songs of The Go-Go's-the most successful female rock band of all time. Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Spring Awakening), Head Over Heels will perform at the Curran (445 Geary St., San Francisco) April 10-May 6, 2018 ahead of its Broadway premiere (opening July 26 at Hudson Theatre).

Centenary Stage Company presents Yasmina Reza's ART

Written by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton and directed by theatre legend Anne Occhiogrosso, Centenary Stage Company's mainstage theatrical season continues in the Lackland Performing Arts Center this Friday, February 16 at 8PM with Reza's 1998 Tony Award and 1996 Olivier Award winning comedy Art.  "Wildly funny, naughtily provocative…" says the NY Post, it all begins when Serge buys an expensive painting by a celebrated artist.  A white canvas with white diagonal lines.  Old friends square off over the canvas, using it as an excuse to hilariously batter one another over various slights and failures.  Art is a hilarious exploration of the very notion of what constitutes art while examining the meaning of friendship.  'Anyone looking for a play that is funny, sophisticated, stylish, stimulating and moving should go to 'ART'.' Audible Will Award $5 Million in Commissions to Emerging Playwrights

Audible Inc., the world's largest producer and provider of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, today announced the first class of theater commissions selected to receive support from its fund dedicated to the commission and development of innovative English-language works from playwrights around the globe. Announced earlier this year, the $5 million fund will enable the creation of one- and two-person audio plays driven by language and voice, in keeping with Audible's core commitment to elevating listening experiences through powerful performances of brilliantly composed words.

Pan Asian Rep's NO-NO BOY Begins Performances Tomorrow

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre (Tisa Chang, Artistic Producing Director), in tandem with 'Day of Remembrance', opens its 41st season on themes of social justice and historic amnesia with the special return engagement of the acclaimed play NO-NO BOY by Ken Narasaki, based on the groundbreaking novel byJohn Okada. Directed by Ron Nakahara, the cast will feature Leanne Cabrera, Dinh James Doan, Chris Doi, Eric Elizaga, David Huynh, Scott Kitajima, Karen Tsen Lee, Claro de los Reyes, Shigeko Sara Suga, and Tony Vo.

Signature Theatre Announces Special Events at Pershing Square

Palo Alto Players Announces 2018-19 Season

Palo Alto Players, the Peninsula's first theatre company, announces its 88th season - featuring four Peninsula premieres and a re-imagined classic. The 2018-19 line-up, beginning September 2018, was unveiled Sunday, January 28 by Artistic Director Patrick Klein at the company's annual Season Announcement Party and includes Disney's TARZAN®, ALL THE WAY, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, FLOWER DRUM SONG, and ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS. Archbold, Bachman Awarded First Denovan Residencies For Cabaret

Madame's Soiree (Drew Fornarola and Tyler Spicer, co-artistic directors), and The Duplex Cabaret Theater (Thomas Honeck, General Manager) are proud announce Mary Theresa Archbold and Trevor Bachman as the first recipients of Madame's Soiree's Denovan Residencies. The residency and accompanying grants aim to give winners the most comprehensive development opportunity in cabaret. Mary will use the residency to develop her one-woman show, Anybodys Everybody: One Girl's West Side Story and Trevor will develop his new musical This Be Magic: A Guide for Young Queers.

At a live event on stage at the Curran this evening, Carole Shorenstein Hays announced the entire inaugural season of her newly reopened and reconceived Curran Theater. #Curran2018, as the season is dubbed, will include the Tony Award-winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen, as well as three bold new works: Soft Power, Taylor Mac's Holiday Sauce, and the pre-Broadway engagement of Head Over Heels. In addition to these four anticipated productions, Curran's popular series of one-night-only events, Show & Tell, will continue with an allstar line-up. Season subscriptions are now on sale.

Jeanne Sakata's HOLD THESE TRUTHS to Make D.C. Premiere

Jeanne Sakata's one-man drama Hold These Truths tells the true story of Gordon Hirabayashi, the American son of Japanese immigrants who defied an unjust court order when America placed its own citizens in internment camps during World War II. Midway through Arena Stage's 2017/18 season, Hold These Truths brings an untold story to the stage that represents the diversity of our country and examines what it means to be an American. Under the direction of Jessica Kubzansky, Hold These Truths runs February 23-April 8, 2018 in the Kogod Cradle.
