South Coast Repertory's Pacific Playwrights Festival celebrated its 11th annual edition May 2 through May 4 with a lineup composed of seven SCR-commissioned plays.

Due to popular demand, four additional performances have been added to the run of Culture Clash in AmeriCCa at South Coast Repertory. Both Orange County audiences and critics are howling at the irreverent and insightful humor by the acclaimed comedy collective of Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza.

Obie winner and Tony Award nominee Reg Rogers will star in The Injured Party, a new comedy by Tony Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg. Commissioned by SCR and directed by Trip Cullman, The Injured Party will receive its World Premiere at South Coast Repertory during the 11th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival. The show will run from April 20 through May 11, 2008 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Low-priced previews are available from April 20 through April 24. Opening night is April 25. The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust has created two major new theater awards for American playwrights in different stages of their careers, it was announced today by the Trust's Board of Directors. 'The Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award' and 'The Steinberg Emerging Playwrights Award' will honor mid-career and early-career playwrights respectively.

Manhattan Theatre Club Artistic Director Lynne Meadow and Executive Producer Barry Grove announced that Jerry Patch will be joining MTC's artistic team as the company's new Director of Artistic Development.

South Coast Repertory Artistic Directors David Emmes and Martin Benson have been named the recipients of the 2007-08 Margo Jones Medal. The prestigious award honors those who have demonstrated a significant impact, understanding and affirmation of the craft of playwriting, with a lifetime commitment to the encouragement of the living theater everywhere. The venerable duo has guided South Coast Repertory from a small touring company into one of the country's leading professional theaters, now approaching its 45th season and known world-wide for its development of new work for the stage.
