Two Hamlets on the stage at the same time? Well...almost. In addition to their production of Shakespeare's Hamlet, Seattle Shakespeare Company is presenting a contemporary comedy about Hamlet's college days - Wittenberg. Both Hamlet and Wittenberg will run in repertory at the Center House Theatre with several opportunities to see both plays on the same day.

Sullivan, Artistic Director; Shira Beckerman, Managing Director) has announced that actor Chris Mixon, currently featured in the company's production of THE SNEEZE, will appear in the spring production of WITTENBERG as Dr. Martin Luther. WITTENBERG will be directed by J.R. Sullivan and run at New York City Center Stage II March 11 through April 17, 2011. Tickets are currently on sale.

The 12th member of the ensemble, Stark will be featured in The Pearl's upcoming production of THE SNEEZE, Michael Frayn's adaptation of Chekhov's short stories and plays which begins performances this week.

Seattle Shakespeare Company announced today its plans to produce The Threepenny Opera at the Intiman Theatre. The Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill musical satire about the dapper criminal, Mac the Knife, and the denizens of his seedy underworld will run February 16 through March 6, 2011 for 15 performances only.

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), will end its production of Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning' on May 2nd. Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'

Baltimore Shakespeare Festival is pleased to announce that its production of Wittenberg has received four Helen Hayes Award nominations. The show was nominated in four different categories: Best Resident Play; Lead Actor, Resident Play (Seth Reichgott); Director, Resident Play (Tony Tsendeas); Costume Design, Resident (Norah Worthington).

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for not for profit professional theatre, is pleased to announce that in 2009, twenty-seven Edgerton Foundation New American Play Awards were granted to theatres around the country.

There are two things you should know about me: I am a musical theatre lover, and I love to schmooze with actors and composers. I am very fortunate to live in the DC area where our theatre community is growing by leaps and bounds. There are so many productions opening in September in DC, Maryland and Virginia theatres, my head is spinning trying to figure out which ones I will see.
