The Waterfront Playhouse continues their smash 71st season with the Broadway hit, 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' opening Thursday, March 3 and running to March 26th. Nominated for 10 Tony Awards, this funny musical has a book by Jeffrey Lane and music and lyrics by David Yazbek. 'Theatrical pizzazz!' says The Daily News. 'Scoundrels' is directed by WFPH artistic director Danny Weathers, with musical direction by Michael Fauss and choregraphy by Penny Leto and Christine Marguerite, the same team responsible for such hits as 'Reefer Madness,' 'Urinetown' and last year's 'The Full Monty,' which sold-out every performance.
The Waterfront Playhouse begins their 71st season with the comic play 'Lend Me A Tenor' by Ken Ludwig. Directed by the Waterfront's artistic director Danny Weathers, 'Tenor' features an all-star cast; a breath-taking set by Michael Boyer; gorgeous period costumes by Jose Rivera and Carmen Rodriguez; lighting by Kim Hanson ('Key West Nutcracker') and a high-energy tale that will have you laughing. Coinciding with the cinema release of filmmaker Clio Barnard's award-winning The Arbor, Artangel Interaction commission AS IT GOES celebrates the unique power of one of the UK's most distinctive and sorely missed playwrights. For four nights only, this series of readings, performed at the Young Vic, remembers Andrea Dunbar's inimitable voice, at once controversial and hilarious, brutally honest and deeply personal. Each reading will be accompanied by one of four new short plays inspired by Andrea's work by teenagers from east London, followed by the screening of scenes from The Arbor. The young playwrights will be mentored by Lorne Campbell (Greyscale, Traverse), Gbolahan Obisesan (Royal Court, National Theatre, Young Vic), Jo Carter (Artistic Director, Immediate Theatre) and Rob Watt (Soho Theatre, Stratford Circus, Royal Court). On the final day of readings a panel discussion will take place with Max Stafford Clark, Clio Barnard, Jo Carter and actors from The Arbor, with a reading of Robin Soans' play, A State Affair (2000) which looked at life on a Bradford estate.

Directed by Cameron Murray, 'Stepping Out' features a cast of some of Key West's best comedic actors. The show opens on May 6 and runs until May 29th (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) with a curtain time of 8:30 pm. The production sponsor is WKWM, 91.5 FM with the Platinum season sponsors of El Meson de Pepe, Comcast and Digital Island Media. Opening night will include a catered post performance party held in the sculpture garden in front of the theater.
Totem Pole Playhouse received a $1 million pledge at its Capital Campaign kick off celebration on April 22 at Hauser Estate Winery in Biglerville. The donor, Charles Q. Smith, is a 60 year Totem Pole season ticket holder and former board member. The $2.5 million dollar Capital Campaign will support upgrades to the 40 year old theatre and one million of the campaign has been earmarked for the existing endowment.
'The Full Monty' is set in Buffalo, New York, where the local steel mill has just folded. Buddies Jerry and Dave have been laid off and are struggling to survive. After seeing the wildly enthusiastic reactions of their wives and girlfriends to a Chippendale's style troupe, Jerry comes up with the idea of doing a one-night performance to make some quick money. He hires four other unemployed factory workers for the act and names their troupe, 'Hot Metal.' Unfortunately, the initial rehearsals are anything but hot. And who wants to see a bunch of 'regular' guys strip anyway? To boost ticket sales, Jerry announces they will outdo the Chippendale's and go 'the full monty.' But do they have the....nerve?

Th Hollywood Reporter confirmed last night that Nickelodeon will pull the trigger on a new half-hour pilot from Peter Barsocchini, writer of the 'High School Musical' movies.
The performers are a who's who of the best of Key West. David Black is comfortable moving between musical theater, comedy and drama, as reflected in his many appearances on Key West stages. This season he appeared at the Waterfront in the highly praised 'Doubt' as well as 'Reefer Madness' and 'The Red Head Dilemma.' Laurie Breakwell appeared this season in the Key West Pops concert of 'A Little Night Music' and 'The Wild Women of Planet Wongo' at the Red Barn. Last season she appeared in the Barn's 'Bark!' as well as the Pops' 'The Pajama Game.'
